Baked Ziti Casserole image

After making lasagna, I had some of the cheese mixture left over. I threw it in with some Ziti and spaghetti sauce and found it was delicious. So, this is a full casserole, that often is too much for just my fiance and I, but here you go.

Number Of Ingredients 9

1 pkg ziti or penne pasta
1 egg
1 pkg (15 oz) part skim ricotta cheese
1/2 c parmesan cheese
1 1/2 jar(s) meatless spaghetti sauce
2 c shredded mozzarella cheese
1/2 lb ground italian sausage - mild
1/2 lb lean ground
6 clove garlic

Steps:

  • 1. Cook pasta. Mince the Garlic, brown sausage and ground. Drain. Put sausage and ground in bowl and cover with spaghetti sauce. In small bowl, combine the egg, ricotta and ΒΌ cup Parmesan cheese.
  • 2. Spread 1 cup of spaghetti sauce in 13x9 baking dish. Top with a third of pasta, half the ricotta mixture, 2/3's of mozzarella cheese, 1 tbsp of parm and 1 cup of sauce. Repeat layers. Mix with spoon. Final layer is sauce.
  • 3. Cover and bake at 375 for 45-50 minutes.
