Time 35m

Yield 12 servings

Number Of Ingredients 6

Flavorless oil, for deep-frying
2 cups ranch dressing
Sriracha, to taste
12 dill pickle spears
12 slices Havarti cheese
12 egg roll wrappers

Steps:

  • Pour 2 inches oil into a large pot and heat to 360 degrees F. Line a plate with a paper towel.
  • Stir together the ranch dressing and sriracha to taste in a bowl. Set aside.
  • Drain the pickles and use a paper towel to pat off any excess moisture (I like to save the brine and use it again!). Wrap each pickle in a slice of cheese, then fold and roll the cheese-wrapped pickle in an egg roll wrapper. Fold up the left side, then the right and roll up tightly like a burrito, using a bit of water on your finger to seal the sides.
  • Working in batches to not overcrowd the pot, fry the pickles until golden brown and crispy on all sides, 2 to 3 minutes. Transfer to the lined plate to drain and cool slightly. Slice in half crosswise and serve with the Sriracha ranch.

AIM'S FAVORITE PICKLE CHEESE MELT

Aim's Favorite Pickle Cheese Melt image

You know, growing up, I had all sorts of funny combos of food I liked. This one seems to be the one I am still eating when I want a snack and nothing else in the house sounds good. I love it with Chicken Noodle Soup.

Time 10m

Yield 1 serving(s)

Number Of Ingredients 4

2 slices white bread
2 slices American cheese (Kraft is my favorite!)
9 dill pickle slices (I usually use the thin hamburger dills)
butter, for frying

Steps:

  • Preheat a skillet and toss in enough butter to fry your sandwich. I tend to use more than necessary, usually, because I like mine more wet than toasty.
  • Place the pickle slices on top of the cheese and top with the other cheese slice and bread.
  • Fry the sandwich until it gets browned like you like it, but long enough on either side to melt the cheese until gooey.
  • Eat it while it's hot!

TUNA AND BRANSTON PICKLE MELT

Tuna and Branston Pickle Melt image

Yes, I know that it sounds vile, but try it--it really is quite yummy. Everybody that I have made try it agrees with me! For all of you non-Brits out there..Branston Pickle is a combination of various vegetables in very small chunks pickled in a sweet brown sauce, usually served with salads, cold meats or in sandwiches. It's typically English, but is definitely available here in Australia, so may well be in the U.S. If you ever see it, I recommend you try it, it's good stuff!!

  • Toast the bread on one side. Turn the bread over and on the untoasted side spread the tuna. Place drops of the Branston on top of the tuna and cover with the cheese.

Tips:

  • Use a sturdy bread that can hold up to the melted cheese and tangy pickle juice. Sourdough, rye, or a hearty whole wheat bread are all good choices.
  • Choose a sharp cheddar cheese for a bold flavor. If you prefer a milder cheese, try a Monterey Jack or Colby.
  • Use a thinly sliced pickle so that it doesn't overpower the other flavors in the sandwich.
  • Spread a thin layer of butter on the outside of the bread before grilling. This will help the sandwich brown evenly and give it a crispy crust.
  • Cook the sandwich over medium heat so that the cheese has time to melt and the bread has time to toast.
  • Serve the sandwich immediately with your favorite sides. Some good options include tomato soup, potato chips, or a side salad.

Conclusion:

The pickle cheese melt is a classic sandwich that is easy to make and always a crowd-pleaser. With its combination of sharp cheddar cheese, tangy pickles, and buttery grilled bread, it's a sandwich that is sure to satisfy. So next time you're looking for a quick and easy lunch or dinner, give the pickle cheese melt a try. You won't be disappointed.
