Time 1h

Yield 4

Number Of Ingredients 3

3 cups apple cider vinegar
1 pound red potatoes, thinly sliced on a mandoline
sea salt to taste

Steps:

  • Place vinegar in a large soup pot and bring to a boil. Add potatoes and boil for 5 minutes. Remove from heat, cover, and let sit for 30 minutes.
  • Line a baking sheet with paper towels. Drain potatoes but do not rinse. Arrange potato slices on the baking sheet, making sure none are overlapping. Cover the top of the potatoes with paper towels. Repeat layers until all potatoes have been dried.
  • Preheat an air fryer oven to 400 degrees F (200 degrees C) according to manufacturer's instructions. Place the basket rack in the top slot. This will act as a shield so that the fan does not blow the chips around once they start to fry.
  • Arrange potatoes slices on the remaining 3 racks and lightly sprinkle with salt. Place racks in the air fryer oven and cook for 10 minutes. Remove the top rack of chips and transfer chips to a plate. Set timer for 2 more minutes and then remove the next highest rack of chips. Set timer for 1 minute for the final rack of chips. Serve immediately.

AIR FRYER POTATO CHIPS

Air Fryer Potato Chips image

These crunchy air-fryer potato chips are a salty, satisfying snack that's a cinch to cook up. A mandoline makes fast work of slicing the potatoes paper thin. Rinsing the sliced potatoes before cooking will remove most of the natural starch and prevent the chips from sticking together--don't skip this step.

Provided by Food Network Kitchen

Time 30m

Yield 2 to 4 servings

Number Of Ingredients 3

2 Yukon gold potatoes (about 8 ounces each), scrubbed
1 tablespoon olive oil
Kosher salt and freshly ground black pepper

Steps:

  • Thinly slice the potatoes on a mandoline, about 1/16 inch thick. Transfer to a medium bowl and run under cold water until almost all the white starch comes off and the water runs clear. Dry well between a couple paper towels. Dry the bowl as well.
  • Add the dry potatoes back to the dry bowl and toss with the oil, 1/2 teaspoon salt and a few grinds of pepper until evenly coated.
  • Preheat a 3.5-quart air fryer to 320 degrees F. Shingle the potatoes in the bottom of the basket; it's okay if there are two layers. Cook until the potatoes are deep golden brown around the edges and crisp, tossing every 5 minutes with tongs so they're evenly cooked, about 30 minutes. If you notice a few slices are finished cooking and completely crisp before others, remove to a large bowl and continue cooking the remaining pieces.
  • Season the chips with a pinch of salt. Serve immediately or let cool and store in an airtight container for up to 2 days.

Categories     Air Fryer Recipes

Time 35m

Number Of Ingredients 5

2 medium potatoes. I use Russet potatoes. Thinly sliced. About 2-3 mm in thickness.
2 cups distilled white vinegar
1 Tablespoon plus 1 teaspoon kosher salt
2 Tablespoon olive oil (or avocado oil)
1/4 teaspoon freshly ground black pepper

Steps:

  • Scrub and rinse potatoes. Leave the skins on (Optional).
  • Using a sharp knife, thinly slice potatoes. About 2-3 mm. I used this Victorinox knife. Alternatively, you can use the potato mandoline slicer.
  • Rinse the potatoes under running water. This helps to rid of the starch.
  • In a small pot, combine the potato slices, vinegar, and one tablespoon of salt. If vinegar does not cover potatoes by at least ¼ inch, top it up with cold water until it does.
  • Bring to boil, lower the heat, and simmer until fork-tender. About 5 minutes.
  • Let cool in the liquid for 15 minutes.
  • Drain well and pat the potatoes dry with paper towels.
  • Preheat the air fryer to 380F/190C.
  • Place the potato slices in a large bowl. Sprinkle with olive oil. I use this OXO food basting brush to thinly brush each potato slice with oil. Alternatively, you can spray with oil. I use the Ghee spray oil.
  • Sprinkle with the remaining teaspoon of salt and pepper. Toss to coat.
  • Arrange the potato slices in a single layer. Air fry mode until lightly browned on top, about 5 minutes. Then flip and slices and air fry until golden brown, with crispy edges and caramelized spots. About 4-5 minutes more.
  • Serve with Copycat Chick-Fil-A Sauce or Chipotle dipping sauce. Enjoy!

Tips:

  • Use the right potatoes: Russet potatoes are the best choice for making air fryer salt and vinegar potato chips because they have a high starch content, which makes them crispy.
  • Slice the potatoes thinly: The thinner the potato slices, the crispier the chips will be. Aim for slices that are about 1/8-inch thick.
  • Coat the potatoes in oil and salt: This will help the chips to crisp up and give them a delicious flavor. You can use olive oil, vegetable oil, or avocado oil.
  • Air fry the potatoes in a single layer: This will ensure that the chips cook evenly. If you overcrowd the air fryer basket, the chips will not cook properly.
  • Cook the potatoes in batches: If you are making a large batch of chips, you will need to cook them in batches. This will prevent the chips from becoming soggy.
  • Season the chips with salt and vinegar: Once the chips are cooked, immediately season them with salt and vinegar. This will help the seasoning to adhere to the chips.
  • Enjoy your chips! Air fryer salt and vinegar potato chips are a delicious and healthy snack that can be enjoyed by people of all ages.

Conclusion:

Air fryer salt and vinegar potato chips are a quick and easy snack that can be made in just a few minutes. They are a healthier alternative to traditional potato chips, as they are made with less oil and have no trans fat. Air fryer potato chips are also a good source of fiber and potassium. So next time you are looking for a crunchy snack, try making air fryer salt and vinegar potato chips. You won't be disappointed!
