Categories     main-dish

Time 1h

Yield 4 servings

Number Of Ingredients 5

1 cup ketchup
1 cup hoisin sauce
1 rack pork spareribs
kosher salt
Freshly ground black pepper

Steps:

  • Preheat an oven to 400 degrees F. Stir the hoisin and ketchup together in a large bowl. Season the spare ribs on both sides with salt and pepper.
  • Cut the rack into individual ribs. Add to the hoisin mixture and toss to coat evenly. Transfer the ribs to a large baking dish, clean the sides of the dish, and cover with aluminum foil. Place the ribs in the oven.
  • Cook the ribs in the oven for 25 minutes, then remove the foil and continue to cook until the sauce becomes syrupy and the meat is tender, about another 25 minutes. Remove from the oven, pile the ribs on a platter, and serve immediately.

Tips:

  • Choose the right ribs. Baby back ribs are the most popular choice for BBQ ribs, but spare ribs are also a good option. Look for ribs that are meaty and have a good amount of marbling.
  • Prepare the ribs properly. Remove the membrane from the back of the ribs and trim off any excess fat. Then, season the ribs with a rub of your choice. A simple rub made with salt, pepper, garlic powder, and onion powder is a good place to start.
  • Cook the ribs slowly and low. The best way to cook BBQ ribs is to cook them slowly and low over indirect heat. This will allow the ribs to cook evenly and develop a tender, fall-off-the-bone texture.
  • Use a smoker or grill. You can cook BBQ ribs in a smoker or on a grill. If you're using a smoker, maintain a temperature of 225-250 degrees Fahrenheit. If you're using a grill, set up the grill for indirect cooking and maintain a temperature of 300-350 degrees Fahrenheit.
  • Cook the ribs until they are fall-off-the-bone tender. This will typically take 4-6 hours. You can check the ribs for doneness by inserting a toothpick or skewer into the meat. If the toothpick or skewer slides in easily, the ribs are done.

Conclusion:

BBQ ribs are a delicious and satisfying meal that is perfect for any occasion. With a little preparation and patience, you can easily make fall-off-the-bone tender BBQ ribs at home. So fire up your smoker or grill and get started today!
