- Place the shrimps in a large bowl of water and add two tablespoons coarse salt. Refrigerate for one hour or more. The salt will leach out impurities and will help to make the shrimp glossy when cooked.
- Bring six quarts salted water to boil for the pasta. Peel and devein the shrimp, cut the shrimp into three-fourths-inch pieces.
- Meanwhile, divide the broccoli into florets and steam until tender. Cut off the stalks. Divide tops in small pieces one-half inch in diameter and put in a heated serving bowl.
- Put the pasta on to boil and cook until al dente.
- Meanwhile, stir fry the garlic and ginger and scallions in the oil. Add the shrimp and pepper flakes and stir-fry for one minute, only until pink.
- Drain the pasta and add it to the broccoli. Add the sesame oil and soy sauce and mix well. Add the shrimp mixture and blend thoroughly. Correct seasoning and serve.

This is a fast, easy, and delicious dish that I created during a sudden craving. It's garlicky and a bit spicy- but can be easily altered to be more or less of either. To make into a vegan dish, simply omit the parmesan cheese.

Steps:
- Cook pasta according to package instructions and drain.
- While pasta cooks, heat one tablespoon of the olive oil in a large skillet over medium-high heat. Add the garlic, shrimp (if using uncooked shrimp), and 1/2 tsp each of salt and pepper. Saute two minutes or until shrimp are barely pink and/or garlic is soft.
- Add broth and crushed red pepper. Increase heat to high.
- Add cooked shrimp (if not using uncooked shrimp in step 2).
- Cook on high heat for 2-3 minutes (just one minute if you used uncooked shrimp earlier), until shrimp are warmed through.
- Stir in lemon peel and juice.
- Put the pasta in a serving bowl, add the remaining tablespoon olive oil and 1/2 teaspoon each salt and pepper. Toss to coat.
- Add the shrimp mixture, parsley, and cheese (gradually so as not to clump up the cheese). Toss to mix and serve immediately.
Tips:
- For the best flavor, use fresh shrimp that are medium-sized and deveined.
- If you don't have angel hair pasta, you can use another type of thin pasta, such as spaghetti or linguine.
- Be sure to cook the shrimp until they are just opaque and pink, otherwise they will become tough.
- Don't overcook the broccoli, as it should still have a slight crunch.
- Season the dish with salt and pepper to taste.
- Serve the pasta immediately, garnished with Parmesan cheese and red pepper flakes, if desired.
Conclusion:
This angel hair pasta with garlic shrimp and broccoli is a quick and easy seafood dish that is perfect for a weeknight meal. It is also a great way to get your kids to eat their vegetables. The shrimp are tender and flavorful, the broccoli is crisp-tender, and the angel hair pasta is cooked to perfection. The whole dish is tossed in a light garlic sauce that is simply delicious.
