Yield 12

Number Of Ingredients 10

5 ounces softened butter, unsalted
6 ounces sugar
6 ounces brown sugar
2 eggs
1 tsp. vanilla
1 pound all purpose flour
1 1/2 tsp baking powder
1/2 tsp baking soda
1/2 tsp salt
1 1/2 cup buttermilk

Steps:

  • In a mixing bowl, cream the butter and sugars. Add the eggs, one at a time. Add the vanilla or other extract. Sift the dry ingredients together. In three additions, alternately, add the buttermilk and the dry ingredients, scraping after each addition. Add any fruit if desired. Place into 12 - 15 muffin tins and bake at 350 degrees for 30 minutes until the center of the muffin bounces back.

Tips:

  • Use fresh ingredients: Fresh ingredients will give your muffins the best flavor and texture. If possible, use organic or locally-sourced ingredients.
  • Measure your ingredients accurately: Accurate measuring is important for baking. Use a kitchen scale to measure dry ingredients, and use a liquid measuring cup to measure wet ingredients.
  • Mix your ingredients correctly: Be careful not to overmix your muffin batter. Overmixing can result in tough, dense muffins.
  • Fill your muffin cups evenly: Fill each muffin cup about 2/3 full. This will prevent the muffins from overflowing during baking.
  • Bake your muffins at the right temperature: The ideal baking temperature for muffins is 350 degrees Fahrenheit. If you bake your muffins at a higher temperature, they may brown too quickly on the outside and be undercooked on the inside.
  • Let your muffins cool completely before serving: It's important to let your muffins cool completely before serving. This will help them to set and develop their full flavor.

Conclusion:

Muffins are a delicious and versatile treat that can be enjoyed for breakfast, lunch, or dinner. They're also a great way to use up leftover ingredients. With so many different recipes to choose from, there's sure to be a muffin recipe that everyone will love.
