APPLE AND SUNFLOWER SEED SALAD

Categories     Apple     Tomato     Leafy Green

Number Of Ingredients 6

1 recipe - 2 green apples, washed, cored and cubed
1/2 cup sunflower seeds
1 head romaine lettuce, rinsed, dried and chopped
1 recipe - 2 dill pickles, diced
1 recipe - 2 tomatoes, diced
1/2 cup ranch-style salad dressing

Steps:

  • In a large bowl, mix together the apples, sunflower seeds, lettuce, pickles and tomato.
  • Pour dressing on top, toss and enjoy!

Tips:

  • Choose the right apples: For this salad, Granny Smith apples are the best choice. They are firm and tart, which holds up well in the salad and provides a nice contrast to the sweetness of the sunflower seeds and dressing.
  • Use fresh sunflower seeds: Fresh sunflower seeds have a better flavor and texture than roasted or salted sunflower seeds. If you can, buy them in the shell and roast them yourself. This way, you can control the amount of salt and oil that is added.
  • Make the dressing ahead of time: The dressing for this salad is simple to make, but it's even better if you let it sit for a while before using it. This allows the flavors to meld together and develop.
  • Don't overdress the salad: A little bit of dressing goes a long way. You want to coat the salad lightly, not drown it.
  • Serve the salad immediately: This salad is best served immediately after it is made. The apples will start to brown if they sit for too long.

Conclusion:

This apple and sunflower seed salad is a delicious and healthy salad that is perfect for a light lunch or dinner. It is packed with nutrients, including vitamins, minerals, and fiber. The combination of sweet apples, crunchy sunflower seeds, and tangy dressing makes this salad a favorite for people of all ages.
