APPLE BUTTER IN THE OVEN
I went apple picking and knew I wanted to make apple butter, but I also knew I didn't want to stir it for hours on the stove. I was glad to find recipes for baking it at a low temperature instead. I adapted one I found to make this spiced, not-too-sweet treat! I like it on toast or over oatmeal. Keep refrigerated for a few days, or freeze for later use.

Tips:
- Soak the beans overnight. This will help to reduce the cooking time and make the beans more tender.
- Use a variety of beans. This will add flavor and texture to the dish. Some good options include pinto beans, kidney beans, and black beans.
- Use a flavorful liquid. This could be water, broth, or even apple cider. The liquid will help to flavor the beans and make them more moist.
- Add some spices. This will help to give the beans a more complex flavor. Some good options include chili powder, cumin, and paprika.
- Don't overcook the beans. They should be tender, but not mushy. Overcooked beans will become dry and tough.
- Serve the beans with your favorite sides. Some good options include cornbread, mashed potatoes, and coleslaw.
