1 granny smith apple, diced
2 cinnamon sticks
3 cups vodka
2 cups sugar
1/4 cup water
1 teaspoon glycerin (optional)

Steps:

  • In a quart jar, add apple, cinnamon sticks, 1 cup sugar, and vodka.
  • Seal jar tightly, and place in a dry, dark place for about 2 weeks.
  • After two weeks, strain the liquid using a double layer of cheese cloth. Gently squeeze the apples, getting as much juice from them as possible.
  • In a fresh quart jar, add the second cup of sugar, the glycerin, water to top and the strained liquid. Seal and store again in a dark place until sugar is dissolved.
  • Once the sugar has all dissolved, bottle the resulting liqueur in a fresh bottle and let age for roughly 3 months.

4 cups sugar
2 cups water
4 pounds apples, sliced
1 liter brandy
3 whole cloves
1 cinnamon stick (3 inches)
Additional whole cloves and cinnamon sticks

Steps:

  • Combine sugar and water in a large saucepan. Bring to a boil; cook and stir until sugar is dissolved. Remove from the heat., Place apples in a large glass or plastic container; add the sugar mixture, brandy, cloves and cinnamon stick. Cover and let stand at room temperature for at least two weeks, stirring once a week., Strain brandy mixture; discard apples and spices. Pour into glass bottles. Place an additional three cloves and one cinnamon stick in each bottle.

1 lb Red Delicious apples or 1 lb other sweet apple
2 cloves
1 pinch cinnamon
2 cups vodka
1 cup granulated sugar
1/2 cup water

Steps:

  • Cut apples in quarters and remove the cores, but do not peel. Place apples, cloves, cinnamon and vodka into a glass jar. Let steep for 2 weeks. Strain mixture using cheese cloth and then filter the resulting liquid using a coffee filter.
  • Mix sugar and water together in a saucepan. Bring to a boil and stir until all the sugar is dissolved and the mixture is clear. Cool completely. Add cooled sugar mixture to alcohol mixture. Let stand in dark cool area for 2-3 months. Transfer to decorative bottles.
  • Note: Use the strained apples for desserts.
