HEALTHY APPLE CINNAMON OATMEAL BARS

Healthy Apple Cinnamon Oatmeal Bars image

My version of a very healthy high protein, low sugar, high fiber snack/energy bar. Only good carbs and a low glycemic index. This bar is very tasty and filling! I also want to stress that this is a LOW sugar item. If you are looking for something that is very sweet, like my first reviewer, you may want to add more sugar or splenda. This is personal preference as I do not like things too sweet.

Tips:

  • Use old-fashioned oats for a chewier texture.
  • Add a pinch of salt to the oat mixture to enhance the flavor.
  • Use a variety of apples for a more complex flavor. Tart apples, such as Granny Smith, pair well with the sweet cinnamon flavor.
  • Be sure to cook the apples until they are soft, but not mushy.
  • Don't overmix the batter. Overmixing will make the bars tough.
  • Press the batter firmly into the pan to prevent the bars from crumbling.
  • Bake the bars until they are golden brown and a toothpick inserted into the center comes out clean.
  • Let the bars cool completely before cutting them into squares.
  • Store the bars in an airtight container at room temperature for up to 3 days.

These apple cinnamon oatmeal crisp cereal bars are a delicious and healthy snack or breakfast option. They are easy to make and can be tailored to your own taste preferences.
