1/4 cup white vinegar
3 tablespoons lemon juice
2 teaspoons prepared horseradish
1 teaspoon prepared mustard

Time 7h15m

Number Of Ingredients 9

4 1/2 to 5 lb country style pork ribs
salt and pepper
1 c apple jelly
3/4 c bourbon
1/2 c brown sugar, firmly packed
1/2 c barbecue sauce
1/2 c cider vinegar
1/2 tsp thyme, dried crushed
3 medium tart cooking apples, peeled, cored and quartered

Steps:

  • 1. Season ribs with salt and pepper, place in a 6 quart slow cooker. In a medium bowl whisk together jelly, bourbon, brown sugar, barbecue sauce, vinegar and the 1/2 teaspoon thyme. Pour bourbon mixture over ribs in the cooker.
  • 2. Cover and cook on low heat setting for 3 hours or on high heat setting for 1 1/2 hours.
  • 3. Add apples to slow cooker. Cover and cook on low setting for 3-4 hours more.
  • 4. To serve transfer ribs to a serving platter. Strain cooking liquid and serve with ribs.

Tips:

  • Choose the right ribs: Look for meaty, well-marbled ribs. Avoid ribs that are thin or have a lot of bone.
  • Prepare the ribs: Remove the membrane from the back of the ribs. This will help the ribs cook more evenly and will make them more tender.
  • Season the ribs: Season the ribs with a rub or marinade of your choice. This will help to add flavor to the ribs.
  • Cook the ribs: Cook the ribs in a smoker, oven, or on a grill. Be sure to cook the ribs to an internal temperature of 145 degrees Fahrenheit.
  • Serve the ribs: Serve the ribs with your favorite sides, such as coleslaw, baked beans, or potato salad.

Conclusion:

Apple country ribs are a delicious and easy-to-make dish. By following the tips above, you can make sure that your ribs turn out perfect every time. So fire up your grill or smoker and get cooking!
