Time 5m

Number Of Ingredients 5

4 apples(i like gala)
1 cup red or white grapes
1/2 pint dairy sour cream
1/2 cup mayonnaise
1/2 cup walnuts.

Steps:

  • 1. Pare, core and dice your apples, combine with the grapes. Blend sour cream and mayonnaise; Add half of this mixture to apples and grapes.
  • 2. Mix well; heap on water cress or other salad greens, top with remaining dressing and sprinkle with walnuts.
  • 3. *** You can add diced Chicken or Turkey and dried cranberries to change it up for a delicious sandwich spread too.

Tips:

  • Choosing the Right Fruits: Select firm, ripe apples and grapes for the best texture and flavor. Granny Smith and Honeycrisp apples are popular choices for their tartness and sweetness, while red or green grapes add a juicy crunch.
  • Preparing the Apples: To prevent browning, toss the sliced apples in a mixture of lemon juice and water. This also helps maintain their crispness and prevents them from becoming mushy.
  • Adding Nuts and Seeds: For a nutty flavor and extra crunch, add chopped walnuts, almonds, or pecans to the salad. You can also incorporate sunflower or pumpkin seeds for a boost of healthy fats and nutrients.
  • Dressing Variations: Experiment with different dressings to complement the flavors of the apples and grapes. A simple vinaigrette made with olive oil, lemon juice, honey, and Dijon mustard is a classic choice. You can also try a yogurt-based dressing or a tangy citrus dressing made with orange or grapefruit juice.
  • Chilling Before Serving: For a refreshing and crisp salad, chill it in the refrigerator for at least 30 minutes before serving. This allows the flavors to meld and develop, resulting in a more enjoyable eating experience.

Conclusion:

Apple and grape salad is a versatile and refreshing dish that can be enjoyed as a snack, side dish, or even a light meal. With its vibrant colors, crisp texture, and sweet-tart flavor, it's a crowd-pleaser that's perfect for any occasion.
