Tips:

  • To achieve light and fluffy mashed potatoes, boil potatoes in salted water until tender, then drain and return them to the pot over low heat for a few minutes to evaporate any excess moisture.
  • Use a potato ricer or masher to create smooth and lump-free mashed potatoes. A ricer will yield a creamier texture, while a masher will leave some chunks for a more rustic feel.
  • For extra creamy mashed potatoes, add butter, milk, or cream. You can also incorporate flavorful ingredients like sour cream, cream cheese, or roasted garlic.
  • Season your mashed potatoes generously with salt and pepper. You can also add herbs like chives, parsley, or thyme for extra flavor.
  • If you're making mashed potatoes ahead of time, spread them in a baking dish, cover them tightly, and refrigerate for up to 3 days. When ready to serve, reheat in a covered baking dish in a 350°F oven until warmed through.
