SPICY PORK LETTUCE WRAPS

Spicy Pork Lettuce Wraps image

These lettuce cups filled with spicy ground pork take inspiration from Larb. Found in several Southeast Asian countries, Larb usually features seasoned ground meat served with sticky rice or lettuce cups, topped with fresh vegetables and herbs. Toasted rice powder is typically mixed into the seasoning for some crunch and to help thicken the dressing. Katie opts for ground peanuts instead to achieve a similar texture and nutty flavor. These can also be made with ground chicken, duck, turkey, or crumbled tofu in place of the ground pork. Fresh and flavorful, these lettuce cups are super easy to make at home any night of the week.

ASIAN GRILLED PORK TENDERLOIN LETTUCE WRAPS

Asian Grilled Pork Tenderloin Lettuce Wraps image

I make this on one night, and "Tacos Al Pastor" on the second night because the two recipes share a lot of ingredients, but taste nothing alike. Tacos Al Pastor also requires overnight marinating, so this dish can be made the day the ingredients are purchase, while Tacos Al Pastor marinates for the second night. This recipe is also super healthy.

Tips:

  • Mise en place: Before you start cooking, make sure you have all of your ingredients and tools ready. This will help you stay organized and prevent any scrambling.
  • Use fresh ingredients: The fresher your ingredients, the better your lettuce wraps will taste. If possible, buy organic produce and free-range pork.
  • Don't overcook the pork: Pork should be cooked to an internal temperature of 145 degrees Fahrenheit. Overcooking will make it tough and dry.
  • Use a variety of vegetables: The more vegetables you use, the more colorful and flavorful your lettuce wraps will be. Some good options include carrots, bell peppers, cucumbers, and radishes.
  • Make sure your lettuce leaves are crisp: If your lettuce leaves are wilted, they will be difficult to wrap. Rinse them under cold water and pat them dry before using.
  • Serve the lettuce wraps immediately: Lettuce wraps are best served fresh. If you need to make them ahead of time, store them in the refrigerator for up to 2 hours.

Conclusion:

These Asian Pork Lettuce Wraps with Coconut-Lime Rice are a delicious and healthy meal that is perfect for a busy weeknight. They are easy to make and can be tailored to your own dietary preferences. So next time you are looking for a quick and easy meal, give these lettuce wraps a try. You won't be disappointed!
