Provided by Ree Drummond : Food Network

Categories     appetizer

Time 1h

Yield 8 to 10 servings

Number Of Ingredients 8

1 cup grated Monterey Jack cheese
1 cup grated Cheddar cheese
1 tablespoon chopped fresh parsley
8 slices bacon, partially cooked and chopped
2 green onions, white parts thinly sliced, green parts thinly sliced and reserved separately for garnish
1 round artisan or sourdough loaf
1 stick (8 tablespoons) salted butter, melted
2 tablespoons ranch dressing mix

Steps:

  • Preheat the oven to 350 degrees F.
  • Put the Monterey Jack, Cheddar, parsley, bacon and onion whites in a bowl and mix well.
  • Cut the bread in strips in one direction, being careful not to cut all the way through the loaf. Rotate the bread 90 degrees and cut in the other direction to create small squares across the top of the loaf. Move slowly and use caution. Place the bread on a large sheet of aluminum foil.
  • Stuff the cheese mixture in between the rows of squares. Mix the melted butter and ranch dressing, then drizzle over the top. Wrap the loaf in the foil and bake for 25 minutes. Open the foil and continue to bake until heated through and the cheese is melted and bubbly, another 10 minutes. Sprinkle with the onion greens and serve immediately.

Steps:

  • Preheat oven to 350°.

Categories     Yeast Breads

Time 1h10m

Yield 8 serving(s)

Number Of Ingredients 9

1 1/4 cups water
1 tablespoon oil
3 cups white flour
1 1/2 teaspoons salt
1 tablespoon sugar
1/2 teaspoon basil leaves (optional)
3/4 cup cubed cheddar cheese
1/2 cup fried crisp bacon
1 teaspoon bread machine yeast

Steps:

  • Select loaf size and add the ingredients according to manufacturer's directions.
  • Select dough cycle.
  • When dough is complete, remove to floured surface.
  • Cover with plastic wrap: let rest 5 minutes.
  • Shape the dough into a loaf of four balls.
  • Place in a greased 23 cm by 12 cm loaf pan.
  • Cover with a tea towel and let rise in the warm place until doubled (50 to 60 minutes depending).
  • Bake at 190 degrees Celsius, 375 degrees Fahrenheit for 25 to 35 minutes, or until golden.
  • Use old cheddar for best flavor, or replace basil with dill weed for more great taste.

Tips:

  • Use high-quality ingredients. The better the ingredients, the better the bread will be. Use freshly grated cheddar cheese and real bacon bits for the best flavor.
  • Don't overmix the dough. Overmixing will make the bread tough. Mix the dough just until it comes together, then knead it for a few minutes.
  • Let the dough rise in a warm place. This will help the dough to double in size and become light and airy.
  • Bake the bread in a preheated oven. This will help the bread to rise evenly and get a golden brown crust.
  • Let the bread cool before slicing. This will help the bread to hold its shape and prevent it from crumbling.

Conclusion:

Bacon cheddar cheese bread is a delicious and easy-to-make bread that is perfect for any occasion. It can be served as an appetizer, side dish, or main course. With its savory bacon and cheddar cheese flavor, this bread is sure to be a hit with everyone who tries it.
