Number Of Ingredients 11

1 1/2 Tbsp packed light brown sugar
1 1/2 Tbsp paprika
1 Tbsp cumin
1/2 tsp ground black pepper
1/2 tsp salt
1/2 tsp onion powder
1/2 tsp garlic powder
4 lb beef brisket, trimmed
2 large onions thick sliced
3/4 c beer (not flavored)
1 c barbecue sauce (your favorite)

Steps:

  • 1. In small bowl mix together brown sugar, paprika, cumin, black pepper, salt, onion powder and garlic powder. Rub all over the brisket on both sides and let sit for 30 minutes.
  • 2. Preheat oven to 300 degrees. Place brisket in large roasting pan (with fat side down) and cover with sliced onions. Pour beer and barbecue sauce over the top. Cover well with aluminum foil and bake for 3 1/2 - 4 hours. You can check to see if the brisket is done by slicing off a small piece of the edge and seeing if it comes apart with a gentle tug. Remove from pan and trim any excess fat away. Brush with any extra sauce and place under broiler or on grill for 1-2 minutes. Flip and repeat for the other side. Stay close by as broilers are unpredictable.
  • 3. Cover and let rest for 20-30 minutes. Slice against the grain at a perpendicular angle. If desired serve with extra barbecue sauce.

Tips:

  • Choose the right cut of beef brisket: Look for a brisket that is well-marbled with fat, as this will help keep the meat moist during cooking.
  • Trim the fat: Before cooking, trim away any excess fat from the brisket, leaving about 1/4 inch of fat on the meat.
  • Season the brisket generously: Rub the brisket all over with a mixture of salt, pepper, and your favorite spices. You can also add a rub made with brown sugar, garlic powder, and onion powder for a sweeter flavor.
  • Cook the brisket slowly and low: The best way to cook a brisket is to braise it in a covered pot or Dutch oven. Cook the brisket for at least 8 hours, or until the meat is fall-apart tender.
  • Let the brisket rest before serving: After cooking, let the brisket rest for at least 30 minutes before slicing and serving. This will help the meat reabsorb its juices and make it even more tender.

Conclusion:

Barbecued beef brisket is a classic dish that is perfect for any occasion. Whether you're cooking for a family dinner or a large party, this recipe is sure to please everyone. With a little patience and care, you can easily make a delicious and unforgettable barbecued beef brisket that will have your guests coming back for more.
