BAKED CLUB SANDWICH ROUNDS

This recipe is from the Pillsbury Bake-Off Contest. (Phil Capaldi's) I made it for my daughters and granddaughters this weekend. They all enjoyed it. It was different from what I usually make and fun. I am not sure how much meat I put on though - just dumped. I also used some provolone on half and it was good too. Thought I might try tomatoes and mustard. Don't know what it would do for sure.

CLASSIC CLUB SANDWICH

Categories     main-dish

Time 10m

Yield 4 main-course servings.

Number Of Ingredients 10

12 slices white bread
3/4 cup mayonnaise
8 romaine lettuce leaves
16 slices vine-ripened tomatoes
Kosher salt and freshly ground black pepper
16 slices crispy cooked bacon
16 ounces sliced roasted turkey
16 frill picks, or plastic cocktail swords
Potato chips
Sweet pickles

Steps:

  • Toast the bread in a toaster, or under a broiler on both sides. Cut the lettuce leaves in half crosswise and form into 8 neat stacks.
  • To make a double-decker club: On a clean work surface, arrange 3 bread slices in a row. Spread 1 tablespoon mayonnaise over 1 side of each bread slice. Place a lettuce stack on top of the first bread slice, top with 2 tomato slices, and season with salt and pepper, to taste. Place 2 slices bacon over the tomatoes (broken to fit neatly if necessary) and top with 1/8 of the turkey (without letting any hang over the sides). Season the turkey with salt and pepper, to taste. Repeat with the second bread slice. Carefully place the second layered bread slice on top of the first layered bread, turkey side-up. Cover with the third bread slice, mayonnaise side-down.
  • Pin the sandwich's layers together by piercing them with 4 frill picks or cocktail swords through the top bread slice, in 4 places in a diamond-like pattern, all the way to the bottom bread slice. Repeat entire process with the remaining ingredients to form 3 more sandwiches.
  • Using a serrated knife cut each sandwich, diagonally, into 4 triangular pieces (each piece should be secured in the center with a pick or sword). Serve with potato chips and pickles.

CLUB SANDWICH WRAP HACK

Club Sandwich Wrap Hack image

Step up your game when making a sandwich wrap. Try something fun and new that's trending all over the internet. You'll have a total of four fillings, each in its own quarter, and use a new tortilla folding technique. This technique works great for breakfast, dessert, sandwiches, pizza, tacos, etc. Flavor combinations are endless!

Provided by lutzflcat

Time 15m

Yield 2

Number Of Ingredients 9

1 (10 inch) flour tortilla
2 teaspoons mayonnaise
ΒΌ cup shredded lettuce
3 slices tomatoes (such as Campari(R))
2 slices deli ham
1 slice Cheddar cheese
2 slices cooked bacon, cut in half
2 slices deli turkey
2 teaspoons salted butter

Steps:

  • Place tortilla on a cutting board. Starting at the center of the tortilla, cut a straight line all the way down to the edge with a knife.
  • Think of the tortilla as having a total of 4 filling locations, each in its own quarter, like a clock. To assemble, place the ingredients on the tortilla as follows: spread the mayonnaise on the lower left quarter, and top with lettuce and tomatoes. Place ham in the upper left quarter. Layer Cheddar cheese and bacon in the top right corner. Place the turkey in the lower right corner.
  • Start at the lower left quarter that borders the cut in the tortilla, and fold that filled quarter up and over the top left quarter. Next, fold that same section over the top right corner. Finally, fold that down and over the lower right quarter, ending with a 4-layer triangle. (You'll find a photo on this recipe giving you a visual on how to do the folding.)
  • Melt butter in a small skillet over medium-low heat. Place the folded tortilla triangle into the skillet, press down slightly, and cook until it starts to brown, 2 to 3 minutes. Flip the tortilla and repeat. Remove from the skillet, cut in half, and serve.

Tips:

  • For a crispier sandwich, use a thicker bread, such as sourdough or French bread. Fresh, high-quality sandwich bread will also make a big difference.
  • Make sure your fillings are evenly distributed so that each bite has a good balance of flavors and textures.
  • Don't overload the sandwiches with fillings, or they will be difficult to assemble and eat.
  • If you are using a wet dressing, such as Thousand Island dressing, be sure to drain it well before adding it to the sandwiches. Otherwise, the sandwiches will be soggy.
  • For a fun twist, try using different types of bread, such as croissants or Hawaiian rolls.
  • You can also add different types of fillings, such as sliced avocado, bacon, or cheese.
  • Be creative and have fun with it!
