Yield Makes about 24

Number Of Ingredients 13

6 ounces best-quality bittersweet chocolate, chopped
2 ounces best-quality unsweetened chocolate, chopped
12 tablespoons (1 1/2 sticks) unsalted butter, cut into small pieces
1 1/4 cups granulated sugar
4 large eggs
3/4 cup plus 1 tablespoon all-purpose flour
Pinch of salt
8 ounces cream cheese, at room temperature
1 large egg yolk
Vegetable-oil cooking spray
1/4 cup plus 2 tablespoons confectioners' sugar
1/2 teaspoon pure vanilla extract
1/2 cup mashed very ripe banana (1 medium banana)

Steps:

  • Heat oven to 350 degrees. Spray a 9-by-13-inch baking pan with vegetable-oil spray. Bring a saucepan of water to a boil; remove from heat. Place both chocolates in a heat-proof bowl; set over saucepan. Stir occasionally until completely melted.
  • Meanwhile, combine butter and granulated sugar in the bowl of an electric mixer fitted with the paddle attachment; beat on medium-low speed until light and fluffy, 3 to 4 minutes. Add 3 eggs; beat to combine. Scrape sides of bowl; add chocolate, 3/4 cup flour, and salt. Mix until just combined, 15 to 20 seconds, scraping sides of bowl once.
  • In a food processor, process cream cheese until smooth and creamy, 25 to 30 seconds. Scrape down sides of bowl using a rubber spatula; add egg yolk, confectioners' sugar, vanilla, remaining tablespoon flour, and remaining egg. Process until smooth, about 1 minute. Transfer to a bowl; fold in mashed banana using a rubber spatula.
  • Spread chocolate batter into prepared pan. Using a rubber spatula, make three trenches in batter, and fill with cream-cheese batter. To marble the top, run the tip of a knife back and forth across the two batters.
  • Bake until set, about 40 minutes. Let cool on a wire rack for 30 minutes before cutting.

Yield 12 brownies, 12 serving(s)

Number Of Ingredients 14

4 ounces semisweet chocolate, chopped
1 cup very ripe banana, mashed (about 2 large)
1/3 cup canola oil
1 cup sugar
1 teaspoon vanilla extract
3/4 cup all-purpose flour
1/4 cup cocoa powder
1/4 teaspoon baking soda
1/8 teaspoon salt
1 cup very ripe banana, mashed
2 tablespoons sugar
1/4 cup soymilk
1/2 teaspoon vanilla extract
1 tablespoon arrowroot

Steps:

  • Preheat oven to 350°F
  • Spray a 9x13-inch baking pan with nonstick cooking spray or very lightly grease with oil.
  • TO MAKE THE BROWNIE BATTER: Melt the chocolate by placing in a pan or heat-proof mixing bowl over a small pot of boiling water.
  • Stir with a heatproof spatula until completely melted, then remove from heat and set aside to cool.
  • In a large mixing bowl, combine 1 cup of mashed banana, the oil, and the sugar. Use a handheld mixer to beat everything together for about a minute. If you don't have a mixer, use a strong fork and mix for about 3 minutes.

  • Add this to the banana mixture in batches, mixing with the hand mixer as you go along. Mix for about 1 minute more.
  • PREPARE THE BANANA TOPPING: In a small bowl, combine all topping ingredients and mix with the hand mixer (remember to rinse the beaters off first) for about a minute.
  • TO ASSEMBLE AND BAKE THE BROWNIES: Spread the brownie batter evenly into baking pan. Pour the banana topping over that and spread evenly.
  • Bake for 30 minutes. Remove from oven and let cool.
  • After about 15 minutes, move it to the fridge until fully cooled.
  • Cut into twelve squares, place a few slices of banana on top of each portion, and serve.

Tips:

  • Use ripe bananas: The riper the bananas, the sweeter and more flavorful your banana split brownie bars will be.
  • Don't overmix the batter: Overmixing the batter will make your brownies tough. Mix just until the ingredients are combined.
  • Bake the brownies until a toothpick inserted into the center comes out with just a few moist crumbs attached. Overbaking will make your brownies dry.
  • Let the brownies cool completely before frosting them: This will help the frosting to set properly.
  • For the best flavor, use high-quality ice cream and toppings.

Conclusion:

Banana split brownie bars are a delicious and easy-to-make dessert that is perfect for any occasion. They're sure to be a hit with everyone who tries them! Here are some additional tips for making banana split brownie bars:
  • If you don't have a 9x13 inch baking pan, you can use a 10x15 inch pan. Just adjust the baking time accordingly.

  • You can also use any toppings you like. Some popular choices include whipped cream, chocolate chips, nuts, and sprinkles.
