EASY FRIED RICE

Easy Fried Rice image

I never could make fried rice, it always turned out sticky and nasty. Until one night when I couldn't sleep, I turned on the tv and watched this infomercial for cookware and they made fried rice. And what do you know, its a good recipe! Only thing good that ever came out of a infomercial, lol. Anyway my whole family loves it and have been asked for the recipe many times. If you have leftover chicken, toss it in too. I've also added hamburger and other veggies with good results too.

Tips:

  • Use day-old rice: Freshly cooked rice is too moist and sticky for fried rice. Day-old rice has had time to dry out, making it easier to separate the grains and prevent clumping.
  • Choose the right type of rice: Short-grain or medium-grain rice works best for fried rice. Long-grain rice is too dry and fluffy.
  • Cook the rice properly: Be sure to cook the rice according to the package directions until it is tender but still has a slight bite to it.
  • Use a well-seasoned wok or skillet: A well-seasoned wok or skillet will help prevent the rice from sticking.
  • Heat the wok or skillet over high heat: High heat is essential for getting a good sear on the rice and vegetables.
  • Add the rice and vegetables in stages: Don't overcrowd the wok or skillet. Add the rice and vegetables in batches, stirring constantly, to ensure that everything cooks evenly.
  • Use a spatula to break up the rice: As the rice cooks, use a spatula to break up any clumps.
  • Season the fried rice to taste: Add soy sauce, fish sauce, oyster sauce, or other seasonings to taste.
  • Serve the fried rice immediately: Fried rice is best served hot and fresh out of the wok or skillet.

Conclusion:

Fried rice is a delicious and versatile dish that can be made with a variety of ingredients. By following these tips, you can make perfect fried rice at home. Whether you're using leftover rice or cooking it fresh, be sure to use high-quality ingredients and cook the rice properly. With a little practice, you'll be able to make fried rice that is just as good as your favorite takeout restaurant.
