Time 15m

Yield 1 quart

Number Of Ingredients 12

1 (14 ounce) bottle ketchup
1/2 cup cider vinegar
3 tablespoons prepared mustard
2 tablespoons Worcestershire sauce
2 tablespoons barbecue sauce (any brand is fine)
1/2 teaspoon hot sauce (I use Tabasco)
1/4 teaspoon cayenne pepper
1 garlic clove (crushed)
1/2 teaspoon allspice
1 teaspoon parsley
2 tablespoons onions, minced or 2 tablespoons onion juice
1 3/4 cups sugar (I like to use brown sugar)

Steps:

  • Mix ketchup, vinegar, mustard, Worcestershire sauce, barbecue sauce, hot sauce, cayenne pepper, garlic, allspice, parsley, onion, and sugar together well.
  • Best if chilled overnight.

Tips:

  • Choose the right cut of meat: Different cuts of meat have different flavors and textures, so it's important to choose one that will work well with your barbecue sauce and cooking method.
  • Use a flavorful marinade: Marinating your meat before cooking helps to infuse it with flavor and keep it moist. You can use any type of marinade you like, but be sure to choose one that complements the flavor of your meat.
  • Cook your meat over indirect heat: Indirect heat helps to cook the meat evenly and prevent it from drying out. If you're using a charcoal grill, create a two-zone fire with the coals on one side of the grill and the meat on the other side. If you're using a gas grill, turn one or two burners off and cook the meat over the unlit burners.
  • Use a barbecue sauce that you love: There are many different types of barbecue sauce available, so you can choose one that suits your taste. If you're making your own barbecue sauce, be sure to experiment with different ingredients until you find a recipe that you enjoy.
  • Let the meat rest before serving: Resting the meat allows the juices to redistribute, which makes it more tender and flavorful. Let the meat rest for at least 10 minutes before slicing and serving.

Conclusion:

With a little planning and effort, you can make delicious barbecue at home. Just be sure to choose the right cut of meat, use a flavorful marinade, cook the meat over indirect heat, use a barbecue sauce that you love, and let the meat rest before serving. With these tips, you'll be able to impress your friends and family with your barbecue skills.
