CHEF JOHN BESH'S ZATARAIN'S® CREOLE JAMBALAYA RECIPE - (4.5/5)

Chef John Besh's Zatarain's® Creole Jambalaya Recipe - (4.5/5) image

Provided by HeidiHo5

Number Of Ingredients 8

2 tablespoons olive oil
1 rib celery, coarsely chopped
1 medium onion, coarsely chopped
4 boneless skinless chicken thighs, cubed
2 cups cubed andouille or smoked sausage
2 1/2 cups water
1 can (14 1/2 ounces) diced tomatoes, drained
1 package ZATARAIN'S® Jambalaya Mix, Original

Steps:

  • 1. Heat oil in large deep skillet or Dutch oven on medium heat. Add celery, onion, chicken and sausage; cook and stir 7 minutes or until meat is lightly browned. 2. Stir in water and tomatoes. Bring to boil. Add Jambalaya Mix; mix well. Return to boil. Reduce heat to low; cover and simmer 25 minutes or until rice is tender, stirring occasionally. 3. Remove from heat. Let stand 5 minutes. Fluff with fork before serving.

Tips:

  • Use high-quality ingredients. Fresh, flavorful ingredients will make all the difference in your jambalaya. Choose high-quality rice, such as long-grain or basmati, and use fresh vegetables, meats, and seafood.
  • Don't overcrowd the pot. When cooking jambalaya, it's important to not overcrowd the pot. This will prevent the rice from cooking evenly and will make the jambalaya mushy. If you're using a large pot, you may need to cook the jambalaya in batches.
  • Cook the rice until it is tender but still has a little bit of a bite to it. Jambalaya is a one-pot dish, so it's important to cook the rice until it is tender but still has a little bit of a bite to it. This will prevent the rice from becoming mushy.
  • Add the vegetables, meats, and seafood in stages. This will help to prevent the ingredients from overcooking. Start by adding the vegetables that take the longest to cook, such as onions, celery, and bell peppers. Then, add the meats and seafood. Finally, add the rice and liquid.
  • Season the jambalaya to taste. Jambalaya is a flavorful dish, so don't be afraid to season it to taste. Add salt, pepper, and other spices, such as garlic powder, onion powder, and paprika, until the jambalaya is flavorful and delicious.

Conclusion:

Jambalaya is a delicious and versatile dish that can be enjoyed by people of all ages. With its bold flavors and variety of ingredients, jambalaya is sure to be a hit at your next party or gathering. So next time you're looking for a hearty and flavorful dish to serve, give jambalaya a try. You won't be disappointed!
