1 large lemon, washed and sliced
1/4 cup sugar
1/4 cup triple sec
1 (750 ml) bottle inexpensive fruity medium-bodied red wine, chilled

¼ cup water
2 (750 milliliter) bottles Cabernet Sauvignon
4 fluid ounces brandy
1 fluid ounce triple sec
2 apples - peeled, cored, and coarsely chopped
1 orange, cut into thin wedges
1 orange, juiced
1 lemon, cut into thin wedges
1 (12 ounce) can citrus-flavored soda (such as Fresca®)

Steps:

  • Combine sugar and water in a microwave-safe bowl. Microwave until water is hot, 30 to 45 seconds. Stir until sugar dissolves into a syrup. Let cool.

I found this on the internet a long time ago and it's a hit at parties. I've never added the brandy though, but I've left it in the recipe. *Note: Time to make includes the 18 hour chill time!*

1 1/2 liters cabernet sauvignon wine
1 cup sugar
1 large lemon, sliced
1 large orange, sliced
1 large apple, cut into thin sections
3 -4 ounces brandy
soda water

Steps:

  • Mix wine, sugar and fruit in a glass bowl or pitcher. Let sit in the fridge for 18-24 hours. The mixture will have a somewhat syrupy consistency.
  • Before serving, stir in the brandy and cut the mixture with soda water until it has a thinner, more wine-like consistency.

1 orange (or approx 3 Tbsp orange juice)
1 -1 1/2 ounce brandy (not flavored) or 1 -1 1/2 ounce cognac (not flavored)
1 -1 1/2 ounce triple sec (or other orange liqueur)
1 ounce vodka (optional)
1/2 of a bottle dry red wine (not expensive) or 1/2 of a bottle white wine (not expensive)

3 large valencia oranges
1 lime
2 -4 lemons
1 cinnamon stick
6 teaspoons caster sugar
3 fresh lime leaves
2 (750 ml) bottles red wine
400 ml brandy
1 teaspoon nutmeg

Steps:

  • Juice citrus (200-300 mL) into a small saucepan; add sugar, nutmeg, cinnamon stick (snapped up) to juice in saucepan. Heat liquid, while stirring, until until steam rises.
  • Pour liquid into a heat proof jug or allow liquid to cool first.
  • Pour wine into container with brandy.
  • Add juice/spice mix, stir. Add leaves, crushed and deveined. Chill 24 hours.
  • You can also add any other fruits you like! If I add apples or pears, I like to soak them in the brandy overnight before adding them to the sangria. YUM!
