CHEESY CHICKEN AND BROCCOLI BRAID RECIPE BY TASTY

Cheesy Chicken And Broccoli Braid Recipe by Tasty image

Here's what you need: chicken, broccoli, red bell pepper, shredded cheddar cheese, green onion, Campbell's® Cream of Chicken Soup, crescent rolls, large egg, fresh rosemary

Provided by Campbell's

Categories     Dinner

Yield 6 servings

Number Of Ingredients 9

2 cups chicken, cooked, diced into 1/2 in (1.2 cm) cubes
2 cups broccoli, chopped
½ cup red bell pepper, diced into 1/2 in (1.2 cm) pieces
2 cups shredded cheddar cheese, freshly
½ cup green onion, chopped
1 can Campbell's® Cream of Chicken Soup
2 cans crescent rolls
1 large egg
½ tablespoon fresh rosemary, roughly chopped

Steps:

  • Preheat the oven to 375°F (190°C).
  • In a large bowl, combine the chicken, broccoli, bell peppers, cheddar cheese, green onions, and Campbell's® Cream of Chicken Soup. Mix well.
  • Place a baking sheet-size sheet of parchment paper on a large cutting board. Unroll the crescent roll dough and arrange next to one another so the long sides are touching. Press the seams together to make one large sheet of dough.
  • Spoon the chicken cheese filling in a horizontal mound across the center of the crescent roll dough, leaving 4-5 inches of space above and below the filling.
  • Starting from the bottom left of the dough sheet, slice a strip of dough diagonally at a 45-degree angle from the filling to the edge. Repeat every 2 inches along the bottom. Repeat with the top dough, cutting in the opposite direction from the bottom.
  • Starting from the left side, fold the first dough strip on the bottom over the filling, then fold over the first dough strip on the top, crossing over the bottom strip. Repeat with the remaining strips to create a braid effect. Pinch the dough together on the left and right sides to seal in the filling.
  • Use the parchment to carefully transfer the braid onto a baking sheet.
  • In a small bowl, whisk together the egg and rosemary. Brush the egg wash evenly over the braid.
  • Bake for 25-30 minutes, or until the braid is cooked through and deep golden brown.
  • Remove from the oven and let rest for 10 minutes before slicing with a serrated knife and serving.
  • Enjoy!

EDY'S BRAIDED ROLLS

Edy's Braided Rolls image

Provided by Martha Stewart

Yield Makes 20

Number Of Ingredients 8

4 tablespoons unsalted butter, melted, plus more for bowl and brushing dough
1/4 cup warm water, 110 degrees to 115 degrees
1 envelope active dry yeast (1 scant tablespoon)
3/4 cup warm milk, 110 degrees to 115 degrees
1/4 cup sugar
1 large egg, lightly beaten
1 teaspoon salt
3 1/2 to 3 3/4 cups all-purpose flour, plus more for kneading

Steps:

  • Lightly butter a medium bowl; set aside. In a small measuring cup combine the warm water and yeast, and let stand until foamy, about 5 minutes. Pour into a medium bowl. Add milk, sugar, butter, egg, salt, and 2 cups flour. Stir until smooth. Add just enough (at least 1 1/2 cups) of the remaining flour to make a dough that is easy to handle.
  • Turn the dough out onto a lightly floured surface. Knead until smooth and elastic, about 5 minutes. Place in buttered bowl, turning to coat. Cover with plastic wrap, and let rise until doubled in bulk, about 2 hours.
  • Line two baking sheets with Silpats baking mats; set aside. Punch down dough. Turn out onto a lightly floured surface. Cut into two pieces, cover one piece with plastic wrap. Roll out remaining piece into a rectangle, about 14 inches long and 6 inches wide. Cut crosswise into 10 rectangles a little less than 1 1/2 inches wide and 6 inches long.
  • Working with one rectangle at a time, make 2 lengthwise cuts, starting about 1/2 inch from one end, dividing the rectangle into three narrow strips. Braid the three strips together, pinching both ends to seal. Transfer to a prepared baking sheet. Repeat process with remaining dough. Brush braids with melted butter. Cover lightly with plastic wrap, and let stand in a warm spot until doubled in bulk, about 30 minutes.
  • Preheat oven to 400 degrees. Bake rolls until golden brown, 15 to 20 minutes.

Tips:

  • Use a sharp knife to cut the cheese into thin strips. This will help them melt evenly and prevent the rolls from becoming too dry.
  • If you don't have a rolling pin, you can use a wine bottle or even a glass to roll out the dough.
  • Don't overwork the dough. Overworking will make the dough tough and chewy.
  • Be careful not to overfill the rolls. If you do, they will be difficult to braid and may burst open during baking.
  • To get a golden brown crust, brush the rolls with melted butter before baking.
  • Serve the rolls warm with your favorite dipping sauce.

Conclusion:

Braided peppery cheese rolls are a delicious and easy-to-make appetizer that is perfect for any occasion. With their flaky dough, melted cheese, and peppery kick, these rolls are sure to be a hit with everyone who tries them. So next time you're looking for a quick and easy snack or appetizer, give these braided peppery cheese rolls a try. You won't be disappointed!
