Tips:

  • For the best results, use a good quality balsamic vinegar. A cheap balsamic vinegar will not have the same depth of flavor and will not caramelize as well.
  • Be patient when caramelizing the onions. It takes time to get them to the right stage, but it's worth it. If you rush it, they will burn.
  • Don't overcrowd the pan when cooking the onions. If you do, they will steam instead of caramelizing.
  • Use a heavy-bottomed pan to prevent the onions from burning.
  • If you don't have a pastry brush, you can use a spoon to brush the egg wash onto the tartlets.
  • Serve the tartlets warm or at room temperature. They are best eaten the day they are made.

Conclusion:

Brie tartlets with caramelized balsamic onion marmalade are a delicious and easy-to-make appetizer that is perfect for any occasion. The combination of the creamy brie, the sweet and tangy onion marmalade, and the flaky pastry is irresistible. These tartlets are sure to be a hit with your guests.
