1/4 cup water
4 tablespoons butter
2 tablespoons lemon juice
1/4 sliced almonds
Salt and pepper

Steps:

  • Place broccoli into baking dish and pour in water. Cover tightly with plastic wrap. Cook at 100 percent for 8 minutes. In a 1 cup glass measuring cup, melt butter with lemon juice, almonds and salt and pepper. Cook for 1 minute and 30 seconds.

Tips:

  • Choose the right broccoli: Look for broccoli crowns that are tightly closed and have a deep green color. Avoid crowns with yellow or brown spots.
  • Trim the broccoli properly: Cut off the tough ends of the broccoli stems and remove any leaves.
  • Blanch the broccoli: Blanching the broccoli helps to preserve its color and nutrients. To blanch the broccoli, bring a large pot of salted water to a boil and add the broccoli. Cook for 2-3 minutes, or until the broccoli is bright green and tender-crisp. Immediately remove the broccoli from the boiling water and plunge it into a bowl of ice water to stop the cooking process.
  • Toast the almonds: Toasting the almonds brings out their flavor and makes them more crunchy. To toast the almonds, spread them in a single layer on a baking sheet and bake at 350 degrees Fahrenheit for 5-7 minutes, or until they are golden brown and fragrant.
  • Make the dressing: The dressing for this recipe is a simple combination of olive oil, lemon juice, garlic, and salt and pepper. You can also add a pinch of red pepper flakes for a little spice.
