- In a large fry pan over medium heat, warm the oil. Add the onions and the 1 tsp. salt and cook, stirring occasionally, until the onions are golden brown, about 30 minutes. Transfer to a large bowl and let the filling cool to room temperature. Position 1 rack in the upper third and 1 rack in the lower third of an oven and preheat to 400°F. To serve, bake frozen tarts at 400 degrees for 12 minutes, reduce oven temperature to 375 degrees and bake until puffed and golden about 15 more minutes
