Time 5m

Number Of Ingredients 10

2 Tbsp salt
2 Tbsp sugar
2 Tbsp brown sugar (i used three - we like a sweet rub)
2 Tbsp ground cumin
2 Tbsp chili powder
2 Tbsp black pepper
2 Tbsp garlic powder
2 Tbsp dried, minced onions
1 Tbsp cayenne pepper
1/4 c paprika

Steps:

  • 1. Combine all ingredients in a small bowl and mix well; use as a dry rub on beef, chicken, or pork. ENJOY!

Tips:

  • Choose the right spices. The spices you use in your rub will have a big impact on the flavor of your barbecue. For a classic Carolina BBQ rub, you'll need paprika, brown sugar, garlic powder, onion powder, black pepper, and cayenne pepper. You can also add other spices to taste, such as cumin, chili powder, or chipotle powder.
  • Use a coarse grind. A coarse grind will help the spices adhere to the meat and create a nice crust. You can use a food processor or a mortar and pestle to grind your spices.
  • Apply the rub generously. Don't be afraid to use a lot of rub. The more rub you use, the more flavor your barbecue will have. You can apply the rub to the meat up to 24 hours in advance, but at least 30 minutes is best.
  • Cook the meat slowly and low. Carolina BBQ is typically cooked slowly and low over indirect heat. This helps the meat to cook evenly and develop a smoky flavor. You can cook your barbecue in a smoker, on a grill, or even in the oven.
  • Baste the meat with sauce. Basting the meat with sauce during the cooking process will help to keep it moist and flavorful. You can use a store-bought sauce or make your own.

Conclusion:

Carolina BBQ is a delicious and versatile dish that can be enjoyed by people of all ages. With its smoky flavor and tangy sauce, Carolina BBQ is sure to be a hit at your next cookout. So fire up the grill and get cooking!
