Tips:

  • Choose sustainable seafood. Look for fish that is labeled as "sustainably caught" or "dolphin-safe." You can also check the Monterey Bay Aquarium's Seafood Watch list to see which types of seafood are considered sustainable.
  • Cook fish thoroughly. Seafood should be cooked to an internal temperature of 145 degrees Fahrenheit. You can check the fish's doneness by inserting a fork or knife into the thickest part of the fish. If the fish flakes easily, it is done.
  • Don't overcook fish. Overcooked fish is dry and tough. Cook fish just until it is opaque and flakes easily.
  • Season fish simply. Fish has a delicate flavor, so it is important to not overpower it with seasonings. A simple seasoning of salt, pepper, and lemon juice is often all that is needed.
  • Experiment with different cooking methods. Fish can be grilled, pan-fried, baked, or steamed. Try different methods to see which one you like best.

Conclusion:

Seafood is a delicious and healthy addition to any diet. By following these tips, you can cook fish that is both flavorful and nutritious. So next time you're at the grocery store, pick up some fresh fish and try one of the recipes from this article. You won't be disappointed!
