Time 1h10m

Yield 1 loaf

Number Of Ingredients 10

2 cups all-purpose flour
1 cup grated cheddar cheese
1 1/2 teaspoons baking powder
1 teaspoon salt
1/2 teaspoon baking soda
1 cup canned tomato, pureed
1/2 cup onion, minced
1/4 cup fresh dill, minced
1/4 cup butter, melted and cooled
2 eggs

Steps:

  • Preheat the oven to 375.
  • In a large bowl, combine the flour, cheese, baking powder, salt and baking soda.
  • In another bowl, mix the tomato puree, onion, dill, butter and eggs.
  • Add the wet ingredients to the dry ingredients and stir just until combined.
  • Pour the batter into a well greased loaf pan and bake until bread is nicely browned and a tooth pick inserted into the center comes out clean -- 50-55 minutes.
  • Turn the bread out onto a wire rack to cool before slicing.

Tips:

  • For the best results, use fresh, high-quality ingredients. This will make a big difference in the taste of your bread.
  • If you don't have any buttermilk on hand, you can make your own by adding 1 tablespoon of vinegar or lemon juice to 1 cup of milk. Let it sit for 5 minutes before using.
  • Don't overmix the dough. Overmixing will make the bread tough.
  • Let the dough rise in a warm place until it has doubled in size. This will take about 1 hour.
  • Bake the bread in a preheated oven. This will help to ensure that the bread cooks evenly.
  • Let the bread cool completely before slicing and serving. This will help to prevent the bread from crumbling.

Conclusion:

Cheddar dill bread is a delicious and versatile bread that can be enjoyed in many different ways. It's perfect for sandwiches, toast, or even just as a snack. If you're looking for a new bread recipe to try, I highly recommend giving this one a try. You won't be disappointed!
