CHEESEBURGER RICE PIE
My family loves this and always asks me to make it. It's unbelievable that this recipe sat untouched in my recipe box for twenty years before I decided to give it a try. My mother used to make it for us and I always remembered liking it. All ingredients are readily available and it's a great way to use leftover rice. Feel free to play around with the spices in both the meat and the rice. I have used seasoning salt and plan to make my next one with pizza spices. Also, if you have no grated cheese, you can use processed cheese slices.

Steps:
- In a large saucepan over medium heat, cook the beef until no longer pink; drain. Add water, barbecue sauce, mustard, onion and pepper. Bring to a boil; stir in the rice. Sprinkle with cheese. Reduce heat; cover and simmer for 5 minutes. Sprinkle with pickles and bacon. Yield: 4-6 servings.
Tips:
- Choose high-quality ground beef: Opt for ground beef with a higher fat content (80/20 or 85/15) for juicier burgers.
- Season the beef liberally: Use a combination of salt, pepper, garlic powder, onion powder, and paprika for a flavorful burger.
- Don't overmix the beef: Overmixing can result in tough burgers. Mix just until the ingredients are combined.
- Form the patties gently: Handle the beef patties gently to avoid compacting them, which can lead to dry burgers.
- Cook the burgers over medium heat: This will help prevent the burgers from burning on the outside while remaining raw on the inside.
- Flip the burgers only once: Flipping the burgers too often can dry them out. Flip them only once, when the juices start to pool on the top.
- Use a meat thermometer: To ensure that the burgers are cooked to your desired doneness, use a meat thermometer to check the internal temperature.
- Let the burgers rest: After cooking, let the burgers rest for a few minutes before serving. This will allow the juices to redistribute, resulting in a more flavorful burger.
- Top the burgers with your favorite toppings: Choose from a variety of toppings such as cheese, lettuce, tomato, onion, pickles, and condiments.
