Tips:

  • Use canned hominy: Canned hominy is a convenient and time-saving ingredient that can be found in most grocery stores. If you prefer, you can also use fresh hominy, but be sure to cook it according to package directions before adding it to the casserole.
  • Choose a flavorful ham: The ham is the star of this dish, so be sure to choose one that is flavorful and has a good amount of meat. A smoked ham or a ham steak are both good options.
  • Use a variety of cheeses: The combination of cheddar, Monterey Jack, and cream cheese creates a rich and creamy sauce for the casserole. You can also experiment with other types of cheeses, such as mozzarella, Parmesan, or Colby Jack.
  • Add some vegetables: Vegetables such as corn, bell peppers, or onions can add color and flavor to the casserole. You can also add a can of diced tomatoes or green chiles for a little extra spice.
  • Don't overcook the casserole: The casserole is done when the cheese is melted and bubbly and the ham is heated through. Overcooking can cause the casserole to become dry and tough.

Conclusion:

Cheesy Hominy Ham Crockpot Casserole is a delicious and easy-to-make dish that is perfect for a weeknight meal or a potluck. The combination of hominy, ham, cheese, and vegetables creates a flavorful and satisfying casserole that everyone will love.
