1 1/2 tablespoons minced garlic
1 teaspoon rice vinegar
1 teaspoon sugar
1 teaspoon Asian chili oil, or 1 teaspoon Asian sesame oil plus hot pepper to taste
1/4 cup fresh coriander leaves, washed well, spun dry and torn

Steps:

  • Barbecued pork: Preheat oven to 350 degrees and line a shallow baking pan with foil. In a small bowl whisk together hoisin sauce, ketchup, soy sauce, garlic, and sugar. Tips:

  • Use fresh garlic: Fresh garlic has a more robust flavor than pre-minced or jarred garlic. For the best results, mince your own garlic cloves.
  • Don't burn the garlic: Garlic burns easily, so be careful not to cook it over high heat. If the garlic starts to brown, remove it from the heat immediately.
  • Add the garlic at the right time: The best time to add garlic to a dish depends on the recipe. If you're using garlic as a flavor base, add it early in the cooking process. If you're using garlic as a garnish, add it just before serving.
  • Experiment with different types of vinegar: Different types of vinegar can give your garlic sauce a different flavor. Try using rice vinegar, white vinegar, or apple cider vinegar.
  • Add other ingredients to taste: You can add other ingredients to your garlic sauce to taste, such as soy sauce, honey, or sesame oil.

Conclusion:

Chinese garlic sauce is a versatile condiment that can be used to add flavor to a variety of dishes. It's easy to make and can be customized to your own taste. So next time you're looking for a way to add some extra flavor to your meal, give Chinese garlic sauce a try.
