1 clove garlic, crushed
1 teaspoon cornstarch
1 teaspoon soy sauce
1 egg white
1 tablespoon oil
1 medium green pepper, cut into strips

  • Add the green peppers, celery, and onions to the pan along with the water.
  • Cover and cook@ medium heat for 3 minutes.
  • Add the ketchup and sugar; cover and cook for 2 minutes.
  • Meanwhile, mix cornstarch with 2 tablespoons water; stir into beef mixture and add to the pan.
  • Cook until liquid is clear and slightly thickened.
  • Add tomatoes; cover and cook just until heated through.
  • Serve with steamed rice.

Tips:

  • Choose the Right Cut of Pork Belly: Select pork belly with a good amount of meat and a thin layer of skin. This will ensure a crispy skin and tender meat.
  • Score the Skin: Use a sharp knife to score the skin of the pork belly in a diamond pattern. This will help the skin crisp up and allow the flavors to penetrate the meat.
  • Marinate the Pork Belly: Marinate the pork belly in a mixture of soy sauce, Chinese rice wine, five-spice powder, and other spices for at least 30 minutes. This will help enhance the flavor of the meat.
  • Roast the Pork Belly: Roast the pork belly in a preheated oven at a high temperature for 30-40 minutes. This will help create a crispy skin and tender meat.
  • Steam the Pork Belly: After roasting, steam the pork belly for 1-2 hours. This will help tenderize the meat and make it fall-apart tender.
  • Glaze the Pork Belly: Brush the pork belly with a glaze made from honey, soy sauce, and other spices. This will give the pork belly a shiny and flavorful coating.

This Cantonese-style roasted pork belly is a flavorful and versatile dish that can be enjoyed as an appetizer, main course, or even in sandwiches.
