HOMEMADE KNEADERS CHUNKY CINNAMON FRENCH TOAST & CARAMEL SYRUP

Homemade Kneaders Chunky Cinnamon French Toast & Caramel Syrup image

Chunky cinnamon bread and caramel syrup make this french toast taste out of this world!

Provided by Six Sisters

Number Of Ingredients 12

French Toast:
1 loaf Kneaders Chunky Cinnamon Bread, cut into 8 slices (if you don't live near Kneaders, any type of thick-cut cinnamon swirl bread will work)
8 eggs
3 cups milk
1 Tablespoon brown sugar
3/4 teaspoon salt
1 Tablespoon vanilla extract
2 Tablespoons butter
Caramel Syrup:
1 cup brown sugar
1 cup heavy whipping cream
1 cup corn syrup

Steps:

 • For the french toast: Preheat an electric griddle to 375 degrees F. In a shallow baking dish, mix eggs, milk, brown sugar, salt and vanilla. Melt butter evenly across your griddle. Dip each slice of bread into egg mixture and coat completely on each side. Place coated bread on hot griddle and turn until lightly browned on each side. Optional: serve with whipped cream and strawberries on top.
 • For the caramel syrup: In a medium saucepan, combine all syrup ingredients over medium heat. Whisk together until smooth and sugar has completely dissolved. Serve warm over french toast.

Tips:

 • Choose the right apples. Granny Smith apples are a popular choice for apple syrup because they are tart and have a firm texture that holds its shape well during cooking.
 • Use fresh spices. Ground cinnamon and nutmeg will give your apple syrup the best flavor. If you don't have ground spices, you can use whole spices and grind them yourself in a spice grinder or mortar and pestle.
 • Don't overcook the apples. The apples should be cooked until they are soft but still hold their shape. If you overcook them, they will become mushy and the syrup will be cloudy.
 • Let the syrup cool completely before storing it. This will help to prevent the syrup from crystallizing.
 • Store the syrup in a cool, dark place. The syrup will keep for up to 2 months in the refrigerator or up to 1 year in the freezer.

Conclusion:

Chunky apple cinnamon syrup is a delicious and versatile condiment that can be used on pancakes, waffles, French toast, ice cream, yogurt, and more. It is also a great way to use up leftover apples. With just a few simple ingredients and a little bit of time, you can make your own delicious apple syrup at home.
