HONEY GLAZED HAM
This ham tastes very much like the famous honey baked ham but costs much less, and there's no need to fight the crowds at holiday time. You can even buy the ham presliced to make it easier and more like the original. It is very good. (I do this while preparing the rest of the meal in the kitchen so that I don't forget to baste!)

Steps:
- Melt butter with thyme and let stand until ready to use.
- Preheat oven to 350°F with rack in lower third.
- Peel off and discard any rind or skin from ham, leaving 1/4 inch of fat on ham. Score fat on top of ham in a crosshatch pattern without cutting into meat. Put ham on a rack in a large roasting pan. Cover ham with parchment paper, then cover roasting pan with foil. Bake 1 3/4 hours.
- Meanwhile, boil vinegar in a small saucepan until reduced to about 1 tablespoon. Remove from heat and whisk in honey, Worcestershire sauce, and thyme butter. Let honey glaze stand until ham has baked 1 3/4 hours.
- Discard foil and parchment from ham. If there is no liquid in roasting pan, add 1 cup water (liquid will prevent glaze from burning in pan). Brush ham with half of honey glaze, then bake, uncovered, 30 minutes.
- Brush with remaining glaze and bake until glaze is deep golden-brown and ham is heated through, about 30 minutes more.
Tips:
- Choose the right ham. Look for a bone-in ham that is fully cooked and weighs between 8 and 10 pounds. A bone-in ham will be more flavorful than a boneless ham, and the bone helps to keep the ham moist during cooking.
- Score the ham. This will help the glaze to penetrate the ham and create a delicious crust. Use a sharp knife to score the ham in a diamond pattern, cutting about 1/4 inch deep.
- Make the cider glaze. Combine apple cider, honey, brown sugar, cinnamon, and cloves in a saucepan. Bring to a simmer over medium heat, stirring occasionally. Simmer for 10 minutes, or until the glaze has thickened.
- Bake the ham. Preheat your oven to 325 degrees Fahrenheit. Place the ham in a roasting pan and pour the cider glaze over the ham. Cover the ham with foil and bake for 1 hour and 30 minutes, or until the ham is heated through. Remove the foil and bake for an additional 15 minutes, or until the glaze is bubbly and browned.
- Let the ham rest. Remove the ham from the oven and let it rest for 15 minutes before carving. This will help the juices to redistribute throughout the ham.
Conclusion:
Cider-glazed honey-baked ham is a delicious and easy-to-make dish that is perfect for a special occasion dinner. The cider glaze is sweet and tangy, and it pairs perfectly with the savory ham. This dish is sure to be a hit with your family and friends.
