1/3 cup shortening
1-1/2 cups plus 2 tablespoons sugar, divided
3 large eggs
1-1/2 teaspoons vanilla extract
3 cups all-purpose flour
1-1/2 teaspoons baking powder
3/4 teaspoon baking soda
3/4 teaspoon salt
1-1/2 cups buttermilk
1 tablespoon ground cinnamon

Steps:

  • In a large bowl, cream shortening and 1-1/2 cups sugar. Add eggs, one at a time, beating well after each addition. Beat in vanilla. Combine the flour, baking powder, baking soda and salt; add to creamed mixture alternately with buttermilk., Spread half of the batter in two greased and floured 8x4-in. loaf pans. Combine cinnamon and remaining sugar; sprinkle half over batter. Spread with the remaining batter; sprinkle with remaining cinnamon-sugar. , Bake at 350° for 50-55 minutes or until a toothpick inserted in the center comes out clean. Cool for 10 minutes before removing from pans to wire racks.

⅓ cup white sugar
2 teaspoons ground cinnamon
2 cups all-purpose flour
1 tablespoon baking powder
½ teaspoon salt
1 cup white sugar
1 egg, beaten
1 cup milk
⅓ cup vegetable oil

Steps:

  • Preheat oven to 350 degrees F (175 degrees C). Lightly grease a 9x5 inch loaf pan. In a small bowl, mix together 1/3 cup sugar and 2 teaspoons cinnamon; set aside.
  • In large bowl combine flour, baking powder, salt and remaining 1 cup sugar. Combine egg, milk, and oil; add to flour mixture. Stir until just moistened.
  • Pour half of the batter into pan. Sprinkle with half the reserved cinnamon/sugar mixture. Repeat with remaining batter and cinnamon/sugar mixture. Draw a knife through batter to marble.
  • Bake in preheated oven for 45 to 50 minutes, or until a toothpick inserted into center of the loaf comes out clean. Let cool in pan for 10 minutes before removing to a wire rack to cool completely. Wrap in foil and let sit overnight before slicing.

1-1/2 cups sugar, divided
1 teaspoon baking soda
1/2 teaspoon salt
1 cup buttermilk
1 large egg, room temperature
1/4 cup canola oil
3 teaspoons ground cinnamon
GLAZE:
1/4 cup confectioners' sugar
1-1/2 to 2 teaspoons whole milk

Steps:

  • Preheat oven to 350°. In a large bowl, combine flour, 1 cup sugar, baking soda and salt. Combine buttermilk, egg and oil; stir into dry ingredients just until moistened. In a small bowl, combine cinnamon and remaining sugar. , Grease the bottom only of a 9x5-in. loaf pan. Pour half the batter into pan; sprinkle with half the cinnamon-sugar. 2 tablespoons sugar
1 teaspoon ground cinnamon
1/2 cup raisins
1 (16 ounce) package hot roll mix
1 cup very warm water (120 to 130 degrees F.)
2 tablespoons butter
1 egg

Steps:

  • Combine sugar, cinnamon, and raisins in a small mixing bowl; set aside.
  • Combine flour mixture and yeast from hot roll mix in a large mixing bowl, mixing well. Add water, butter, and egg; stir well.
  • Turn dough out onto a lightly floured surface; knead 5 minutes or until smooth and elastic. Cover and let rest 5 minutes.
  • Divide dough in half. Roll each half into a 13 x 8 inch rectangle. Sprinkle each rectangle with half of the reserved sugar mixture.
