Steps:
- Snap the stem ends of the green beans, or cut them off in a big bunch with a knife if you'd prefer.
- Melt the bacon grease in a skillet over medium-low heat. Add the garlic and onions and cook for a minute. Then add the green beans and cook until the beans turn bright green, about a minute. Add the chicken broth, chopped red pepper, salt and pepper to taste. Turn the heat to low and cover the skillet with a lid, leaving the lid cracked to allow steam to escape. Cook until the liquid evaporates and the beans are fairly soft, yet still a bit crisp, 20 to 30 minutes. You can add more chicken broth during the cooking process, but don't be afraid to let it all cook away so the onions and peppers can start to caramelize.

My Grandmother used to fix this when company was coming over, hence the name. This is a very forgiving recipe where amounts of ingredients can be varied to suit different tastes (Want less onion? Want more bacon? It's all good). Also, it can be doubled or tripled without any harm.

Tips:
- Trim the Green Beans: Before cooking, trim the ends of the green beans to remove any tough or fibrous parts.
- Blanch the Green Beans (Optional): Blanching the green beans briefly in boiling water helps preserve their color and crispness. Plunge them into ice water to stop the cooking process.
- Use Fresh, High-Quality Ingredients: The fresher the ingredients, the better your green beans will taste. Look for green beans that are firm and have a vibrant color.
- Season to Taste: Don't be afraid to adjust the seasonings in the recipe to suit your own taste preferences. Add more garlic, salt, or pepper if desired.
- Serve Immediately: Green beans are best served immediately after cooking. They can be reheated, but they may lose some of their crispness.
