I grew up on a dairy farm. Today, we live on a small farm where I tend to chickens.

TASTY BAKED CORN BALLS

Tasty Baked Corn Balls image

I found this recipe in the Taste of Home Garden and Fresh Recipes collection. I made these when we had company and they were a hit! I will continue to make this unique side dish time and time again!

Provided by Dine Dish

Categories     Corn

Time 40m

Yield 8-10 serving(s)

Number Of Ingredients 9

1/2 cup chopped onion
1 cup chopped celery
1/2 cup butter
3 1/2 cups herb-seasoned stuffing cubes
3 cups cooked whole kernel corn
3 eggs, beaten
1/2 cup water
1/2 teaspoon salt
1/4 teaspoon pepper

Steps:

  • Preheat oven to 375 degrees.
  • In a saucepan, cook onion and celery in butter until tender; set aside to cool.
  • In a bowl, combine croutons, corn, eggs, water, salt, pepper and onion mixture; mix well.
  • Shape into eight to ten balls.
  • Place in an ungreased shallow baking dish.
  • Bake, uncovered, at 375 for 25-35 minutes.

Tips:

  • Use fresh corn. Fresh corn will give your corn balls the best flavor. If you don't have fresh corn, you can use frozen corn that has been thawed and drained.
  • Don't overmix the batter. Overmixing the batter will make your corn balls tough. Mix just until the ingredients are combined.
  • Use a hot skillet. A hot skillet will help your corn balls to cook evenly and prevent them from sticking.
  • Don't overcrowd the skillet. If you overcrowd the skillet, your corn balls will not cook evenly.
  • Serve corn balls hot. Corn balls are best served hot out of the skillet. You can also reheat them in the oven or microwave.

Conclusion:

Corn balls are a delicious and easy-to-make snack or side dish. They are perfect for parties, potlucks, or game day gatherings. With just a few simple ingredients, you can create a batch of corn balls that everyone will love. So next time you are looking for a fun and tasty treat, give corn balls a try!
