I adapted this tomato appetizer from a stuffed mushroom recipe that I've used for years. The tasty little treats always win compliments-they're perfect at parties or for potlucks and salad luncheons. Tips:
- Choose flavorful, ripe cherry tomatoes. Look for tomatoes that are plump and have a deep red color. Avoid tomatoes that are bruised or have soft spots.
- Use fresh crab meat. Fresh crab meat has a delicate flavor and texture that is perfect for stuffing cherry tomatoes. Avoid using canned or frozen crab meat, as it will not have the same flavor or texture.
- Season the crab meat well. Before stuffing the tomatoes, season the crab meat with salt, pepper, and other desired seasonings. This will help to enhance the flavor of the crab meat.
- Use a variety of fillings. In addition to crab meat, you can also stuff cherry tomatoes with other ingredients, such as shrimp, scallops, vegetables, or cheese. Get creative and experiment with different flavor combinations.
- Bake or fry the stuffed tomatoes. Stuffed cherry tomatoes can be baked or fried. If you are baking them, preheat the oven to 350 degrees Fahrenheit and bake the tomatoes for 15-20 minutes, or until they are heated through. If you are frying them, heat a little oil in a skillet over medium heat and fry the tomatoes for 2-3 minutes per side, or until they are golden brown and heated through.
Conclusion:
Crab stuffed cherry tomatoes are a delicious and easy-to-make appetizer that is perfect for any occasion. They are also a great way to use up leftover crab meat. With a few simple ingredients and a little bit of time, you can create a dish that is sure to impress your guests.
