CREAMY PORK CHOPS, MUSHROOM AND POTATO CASSEROLE

Creamy Pork Chops, Mushroom and Potato Casserole image

Total comfort food! You will need 3/4-inch thick pork chops for this, make certain to slice the potatoes the same thickness as the chops to assure that both are cooked at the same time. You can use fresh mushrooms instead of canned but they will need to be sauteed firstly to release their liquid. Serve this with hot cooked buttered egg noodles and green beans!

Tips:

  • Choose the right potatoes: Waxy potatoes, such as Yukon Gold or Red Bliss, hold their shape better than starchy potatoes, such as Russet potatoes, when baked.
  • Slice the potatoes thinly: This will help them cook evenly.
  • Use a good quality pork chop: Look for pork chops that are at least 1 inch thick and have a good amount of marbling.
  • Season the pork chops well: Use a combination of salt, pepper, garlic powder, and onion powder.
  • Sear the pork chops before baking: This will help to develop flavor and prevent the pork chops from drying out.
  • Use a creamy sauce: A creamy sauce will help to keep the pork chops moist and tender. You can use a simple cream sauce, or you can add other ingredients, such as mushrooms, onions, or cheese.
  • Bake the pork chops until they are cooked through: The internal temperature of the pork chops should reach 145 degrees Fahrenheit.

Conclusion:

Creamy potato pork chop bake is a delicious and easy-to-make dish that is perfect for a weeknight meal. The pork chops are tender and juicy, the potatoes are creamy and flavorful, and the sauce is rich and decadent. This dish is sure to be a hit with your family and friends.
