2 tablespoons butter
1/2 cup chopped onion
2 cans (10-3/4 ounces each) condensed cream of mushroom soup, undiluted

Combine soup and water; pour over onion. Cover and cook on low for 8-9 hours or until meat is tender. Serve with noodles. Yield: 8 servings.

Tips:

  • Tenderize the steak before cooking to make it more flavorful and easier to chew. You can do this by pounding it with a meat mallet or marinating it in a mixture of acids and enzymes, such as lemon juice or yogurt.
  • Cook the steak over medium heat to prevent it from becoming tough. Be sure to sear the steak on all sides before reducing the heat and cooking it through.
  • Use a flavorful cooking liquid, such as beef broth or red wine, to add flavor to the steak. You can also add vegetables, such as onions, carrots, and celery, to the cooking liquid for extra flavor.
  • Cook the steak until it reaches an internal temperature of 145 degrees Fahrenheit for medium-rare or 160 degrees Fahrenheit for medium.
  • Let the steak rest for a few minutes before slicing and serving. This will allow the juices to redistribute throughout the steak, making it more tender and flavorful.

Conclusion:

Creamy Swiss steak is a classic comfort food dish that is easy to make and always a crowd-pleaser. With its tender steak, flavorful sauce, and creamy topping, it's sure to be a hit at your next family gathering or potluck. So next time you're looking for a hearty and satisfying meal, give creamy Swiss steak a try. You won't be disappointed.
