2 (14 ounce) packages caramel candies
1/4 cup water
8 apples

Steps:

  • Place caramels and water in your slow cooker.
  • Cover and cook on high for 1 to 1 1/2 hours on high, stirring frequently.
  • Wash and dry apples.
  • Remove stems from apple and insert stick into stem end.
  • Turn control on low.
  • Dip apple into hot caramel and turn to coat entire surface.
  • Holding apple above pot, scrape off excess accumulation of caramel from bottom apple.
  • Place on greased wax paper to cool.

2 cups sugar
1 tablespoon corn syrup
1/2 cup water
1 cup or 2 sticks butter, cut in pieces and at room temperature
1 cup heavy cream
Pinch salt
2 packages caramels, 28 ounces
1/2 cup water
8 apples
Sticks to pierce apples (chopsticks are fine)

Steps:

  • Fill a bowl with water, to chill caramel if it starts to burn. Insert a stick into apples. Place sugar, syrup, and water in a saucepan and stir with a wooden spoon to combine. Then, do not stir until the color is a deep amber. Remove from heat. Using a clean wooden spoon, beat in butter then stir in cream and salt. Dip apples and place on waxed paper until hard.;
  • In a crock pot combine caramel and water. Cover and cook on high for about 1 to 1 1/2 hours. Turn control to low; dip apples and cool on waxed paper.;

When I was searching for a recipe to make homemade caramel apples for the very first time, a close friend gave me this amazing and fairly easy recipe. My family and friends loved these delicious treats! Sprinkle with nuts or whatever you desire while the caramel is still warm (work quickly, the caramel sets VERY fast).

8 large tart apples
8 wooden chopsticks for handles
1 cup butter
2 cups packed brown sugar
1 cup light corn syrup
1 (14 ounce) can sweetened condensed milk
2 teaspoons vanilla extract

Steps:

  • Bring a large saucepan of water to a boil. Dip apples in boiling water for a few seconds, then dry with paper towels to remove any wax from the peels. Set apples aside; when completely cool, insert a wooden chopstick firmly into the bottom of each apple for a handle.
  • Line a baking sheet with parchment paper.
  • Stir butter, brown sugar, corn syrup, and sweetened condensed milk together in a saucepan over medium-high heat. Bring to a boil, stirring constantly, and reduce heat to medium. Cook until a candy thermometer reads 248 degrees F (120 degrees C), 25 to 30 minutes; stir constantly to prevent burning. A teaspoon of the syrup, dropped in a glass of cold water, should form a firm ball. Remove caramel from heat and stir in vanilla extract.
  • Working quickly, dip each apple into the hot caramel to completely coat the apple and about 1/2 inch of the wooden handle. Sprinkle apples with any desired toppings while still hot. Let caramel apples cool on the parchment paper. Use caution, caramel is very hot.

10 cups cubed (3/4-inch) French or challah bread
8 eggs
2 cups (1 pint) half-and-half
1/2 cup milk
1/3 cup packed light brown sugar
1 1/2 teaspoons vanilla
1/2 teaspoon ground cinnamon
8 tablespoons butter, softened
3 apples, peeled and coarsely chopped (3/4-inch pieces)
1 cup packed light brown sugar
1 teaspoon ground cinnamon
1 cup coarsely chopped pecans
Powdered Sugar, Maple syrup or salted caramel topping, if desired

Steps:

  • Heat oven to 300°F. On large cookie sheet, spread bread cubes. Bake 20 to 30 minutes or until dry.

  • Cover; cook 2 1/2 to 3 hours on Low heat setting or until temperature reaches 160°F and center is set.
  • Remove foil before serving by loosening edges with table knife. Sprinkle with powdered sugar and serve with syrup.
