Provided by Cheesehead

Categories     Lunch/Snacks

Time 1h10m

Yield 1 batch

Number Of Ingredients 5

1 cup butter (not margarine)
2 cups brown sugar
3/4 cup light corn syrup
1/2 teaspoon baking soda
1 box Crispix cereal

Steps:

  • Bring butter, brown sugar, and corn syrup to a boil.
  • Boil 2 minutes.
  • Remove from heat and add baking soda (it will foam).
  • Put the cereal in a large bowl and pour the boiled mixture over the cereal and stir to coat.
  • Bake 1 hour at 200-250F degrees.
  • Stir every 15 minutes.
  • You may add nuts if you desire.

Tips:

  • Choose fresh ingredients. Using fresh popcorn, nuts, and pretzels will ensure that your snack mix is flavorful and crunchy.
  • Use a variety of ingredients. Don't be afraid to mix and match different types of popcorn, nuts, and pretzels. You can also add other ingredients like dried fruit, candy, or chocolate chips.
  • Don't overcrowd the pan. When you're baking the snack mix, make sure to spread it out in a single layer on the baking sheet. This will help the caramel to evenly coat the ingredients.
  • Stir the snack mix frequently. While the snack mix is baking, stir it every few minutes to prevent the caramel from burning.
  • Let the snack mix cool completely. Before you enjoy your snack mix, let it cool completely on a wire rack. This will help the caramel to set and harden.

Conclusion:

Making a crunchy caramel snack mix is a fun and easy way to satisfy your sweet and salty cravings. With just a few simple ingredients, you can create a delicious treat that's perfect for sharing with friends and family. So next time you're looking for a quick and easy snack, try making a batch of this crunchy caramel snack mix. You won't be disappointed!
