Yield Makes 4

Number Of Ingredients 6

2 large cucumbers (1 1/2 pounds total)
1/2 cup gin
4 teaspoons fresh lime juice
1 tablespoon sugar
1 cup ice cubes
4 lime slices

Steps:

  • Slice four 1/4-inch-thick slices from 1 cucumber. Peel and coarsely chop remaining cucumbers; transfer to processor and purée until smooth. Pour through fine strainer set over large bowl, pressing on solids in strainer. Discard solids in strainer.
  • Mix 1 cup cucumber juice, gin, lime juice, and sugar in pitcher; stir until sugar dissolves. Add ice; mix well. Immediately strain mixture into 4 small Martini glasses. Garnish with lime and cucumber slices and serve.

Tips:

  • Choose the right cucumbers. English cucumbers are best for gimlets because they have fewer seeds and a thinner skin.
  • Chill your ingredients. This will help to create a refreshing and flavorful cocktail.
  • Use fresh lime juice. Fresh lime juice will give your gimlets a brighter flavor than bottled lime juice.
  • Don't over-muddle the cucumbers. Over-muddling will release the cucumber's bitterness.
  • Serve immediately. Gimlets are best enjoyed immediately after they are made.

Conclusion:

Cucumber gimlets are a refreshing and flavorful cocktail that is perfect for summer gatherings. With just a few simple ingredients, you can create this classic cocktail in minutes. So next time you're looking for a refreshing drink, give the cucumber gimlet a try. You won't be disappointed.
