Tips:

  • Select firm, seedless grapes: Use grapes that are plump, firm, and free of blemishes. Seedless grapes are easier to work with and more enjoyable to eat.
  • Prepare the grapes: Wash the grapes thoroughly and pat them dry with a paper towel. Remove any stems if necessary.
  • Cut the grapes: For each caterpillar, you will need two grapes for the body and one grape for the head. Cut the body grapes in half lengthwise, and cut the head grape in half crosswise.
  • Assemble the caterpillars: Place the two body halves on a plate, cut side up. Place the head grape on top of the body halves, so that the cut side is facing down. Use toothpicks to secure the head and body together.
  • Add the legs: Cut eight small pieces of licorice or fruit roll-up. Insert four pieces into each side of the caterpillar's body, to create the legs.
  • Add the antennae: Cut two small pieces of licorice or fruit roll-up. Insert them into the top of the caterpillar's head, to create the antennae.
  • Add the eyes: Use edible markers or small pieces of candy to create eyes on the caterpillar's head.
  • Serve: Serve the grape caterpillars immediately, or chill them in the refrigerator for later.

Conclusion:

Grape caterpillars are an adorable and healthy snack that is perfect for kids and adults alike. They are easy to make and can be customized with a variety of different toppings and decorations. So next time you are looking for a fun and creative snack, give grape caterpillars a try!
