Steps:
- 1. Combine first three ingredients and cook for approximately 10 minutes until it comes to a boil. Take off the eye and cool slightly.
- 2. Add all remaining ingredients except confectioner sugar. Dump onto wax paper. Roll into quarter-sized balls.
- 3. Add confectioner sugar to a large plastic bag or bowl. Dump balls into large plastic bag or bowl. Toss until covered. Store in Christmas tins.
Tips:
- Use a food processor to finely chop the dates. This will help them blend better with the other ingredients and create a smoother texture.
- If you don't have a food processor, you can chop the dates by hand. Just be sure to chop them very finely.
- Add a little bit of lemon juice to the date mixture. This will help brighten the flavor and prevent the dates from tasting too sweet.
- If you want a more intense chocolate flavor, use dark chocolate chips instead of semi-sweet chocolate chips.
- If you don't have chocolate chips, you can use chopped chocolate bars or even chocolate syrup.
- Be sure to chill the date mixture before rolling it into balls. This will help the balls hold their shape better.
- If you want a more festive look, roll the date balls in sprinkles or chopped nuts before serving.
Conclusion:
Date snowballs are a delicious and easy-to-make treat that are perfect for any occasion. They're made with just a few simple ingredients and can be customized to your liking. So next time you're looking for a sweet treat, give date snowballs a try!
