Tips:

  • Choose the right cut of beef: Flank steak, top round, and eye of round are all good options for beef jerky. These cuts are lean and have a good amount of connective tissue, which helps to give beef jerky its chewy texture.
  • Slice the beef against the grain: This will help to make the beef jerky more tender. To slice against the grain, hold the knife perpendicular to the muscle fibers and slice downward.
  • Marinate the beef: Marinating the beef helps to flavor it and tenderize it. You can use a variety of marinades, but a simple marinade made with soy sauce, Worcestershire sauce, garlic, and black pepper is a good place to start.
  • Dehydrate the beef: You can dehydrate the beef in a dehydrator or in the oven. If you are using a dehydrator, set it to 145 degrees Fahrenheit and dehydrate the beef for 8-12 hours. If you are using the oven, set it to the lowest temperature possible (usually 200 degrees Fahrenheit) and dehydrate the beef for 6-8 hours.
  • Store the beef jerky properly: Beef jerky can be stored in an airtight container at room temperature for up to 2 weeks. It can also be stored in the refrigerator for up to 6 months.

Beef jerky is a delicious and nutritious snack that is easy to make at home. By following these tips, you can make beef jerky that is perfect for your taste.
