Categories     Potato

Time 3h10m

Yield 1 soup, 6-8 serving(s)

Number Of Ingredients 11

1 lb ground beef
1 (14 1/2 ounce) can corn
1 (14 1/2 ounce) can green beans
1 (14 1/2 ounce) can carrots
1 (14 1/2 ounce) can mixed vegetables
1 (14 1/2 ounce) can green peas
1 (15 ounce) can stewed tomatoes
4 beef bouillon cubes
3 -4 medium potatoes, peeled and chopped
2 -3 garlic cloves, diced
water

Steps:

  • Place ground beef and garlic into your big cooking pot while you are opening veggies, this will give it time to brown.
  • Place canned veggies into pot, do not drain. You need their liquid.
  • Cut up potatoes and unwrap bouillon cubes, add to the mix.
  • Add enough water to fill the pot. It usually is not a lot of water because of the canned vegetables.
  • Cook 3-4 hours.
  • Serve. Some like cheese over their soup.
  • Note: You can use frozen or fresh vegetables. I always double my recipe because it just does not seem to be enough, but we will eat it for leftovers. If you do not like some of these vegetables you add what you do like.

BEAN DUMP SOUP

Bean Dump Soup image

We eat a lot of beans. This soup is a perfect busy day meal. Good with a simple green salad and cornbread.

Provided by Jacque Hodges

Categories     Bean Soups

Time 8h20m

Number Of Ingredients 11

1 lb ground beef
1 can(s) pinto beans
1 can(s) black beans
1 can(s) white beans
1 can(s) corn
1 can(s) diced tomatoes with green chiles
1 can(s) diced tomatoes
1 pkg taco seasoning
1 pkg hidden valley ranch dressing mix
salt and pepper, to taste
garlic salt, to taste

Steps:

  • 1. Stir all ingredients together in crock pot and cook on low for 8-10 hours.
  • 2. It's easy to over-do it on the salt, especially using canned beans. I usually use my own precooked, frozen, dried beans to avoid excess sodium.

Tips:

  • Utilize Pantry Staples: Dump soups are a great way to use up leftover vegetables, canned goods, and pantry staples. This not only saves money but also reduces food waste.
  • Include a Variety of Vegetables: The more vegetables you add, the more nutritious and flavorful your soup will be. Aim for a mix of colors and textures for a visually appealing dish.
  • Use Frozen or Canned Vegetables: If fresh vegetables are not available or too expensive, frozen or canned vegetables are a convenient and affordable alternative. They retain most of their nutrients and add flavor to the soup.
  • Choose a Flavorful Broth: The broth forms the base of your soup, so make sure to choose one that complements the flavors of your vegetables. Options include chicken, beef, vegetable, or a combination of these.
  • Add Some Protein: To make your soup more filling and satisfying, add some protein sources such as cooked chicken, beans, lentils, or tofu.
  • Don't Overcook the Vegetables: Overcooked vegetables lose their texture and nutrients. Aim to cook them until they are tender-crisp, retaining their vibrant colors.
  • Season to Taste: Always taste your soup and adjust the seasonings accordingly. Add salt, pepper, herbs, and spices to enhance the flavors.

Conclusion:

Dump soups are an easy, versatile, and delicious way to enjoy a nutritious and comforting meal. With just a few simple steps and readily available ingredients, you can create a flavorful and satisfying soup that the whole family will love. So next time you're looking for a quick and easy meal that's packed with flavor and goodness, give dump soup a try. You won't be disappointed!
