ICED COFFEE (DUNKIN DONUTS)

Iced Coffee (Dunkin Donuts) image

I have tried to make iced coffee before but it never tasted like my favorite from Dunkin Donuts! I finally realized they were added as much milk as they were coffee, and extra sugar. Often, later in the day, after the coffee in the carafe is not so hot, I make these as a refreshing drink. You can also add a tablespoon or so of flavored creamer, like amaretto, hazelnut, etc. for some variety.

DUNKIN DONUTS COFFEE

Dunkin Donuts Coffee image

I love Dunkin Donuts coffee but it's kinda of expensive to buy a medium cup of coffee at $1.50 for every cup several times a week. So I purchased a bag of the whole unground Dunkin Donuts coffee beans for $7.99 and grind them and make my coffee at home. The half and half a woman who works at Dunkin Donuts told me that's what they use to whiten the coffee. I like my coffee sweet so this is based on how my coffee taste when purchased at Dunkin Donuts I always ask for extra, extra, cream and sugar so feel free to decrease or increase the sugar amount to your taste. My future hubby and I think this taste great and taste just like I've bought it by the cup at Dunkin Donuts. Hope you enjoy it! Note: This recipe was based on making my coffee in my Black & Decker coffee maker. You may need to play with the amount if using a different coffee maker.

Tips for Brewing Perfect Coffee at Home:

  • Use fresh, cold water: Never use hot water to brew coffee, as it will extract bitterness from the grounds.
  • Measure coffee and water accurately: The ideal coffee-to-water ratio is 1:16. For every 1 cup of coffee, use 16 cups of water.
  • Use the right grind size: The grind size is crucial for brewing coffee. Use a medium-coarse grind for drip coffee makers and a fine grind for espresso machines.
  • Let the coffee bloom: After adding hot water to the coffee grounds, wait for 30 seconds to allow the coffee to bloom. This allows the coffee to release carbon dioxide and create a more flavorful cup of coffee.
  • Brew coffee at the right temperature: The ideal brewing temperature for coffee is between 195°F and 205°F (90°C to 96°C). Water that is too hot will extract bitterness from the coffee grounds, while water that is too cold will result in weak coffee.
  • Don't over-extract the coffee: The longer coffee grounds are exposed to hot water, the more bitter the coffee will be. Brew coffee for the recommended time, which is usually around 4-6 minutes for drip coffee makers and 25-30 seconds for espresso machines.
