This elegant and easy Creamy Ham Fettuccine is Angie Smith's own version of an old Italian favorite and has earned top honors with friends and family. "It's my most requested dish," notes the Clarksville, Tennessee cook. Tips:
- Use high-quality ingredients. Fresh vegetables, flavorful country ham, and a good quality olive oil will make a big difference in the final dish.
- Don't overcrowd the pan. When cooking the vegetables, make sure to give them enough space so that they can brown properly. If you overcrowd the pan, they will steam instead of brown.
- Cook the pasta al dente. This means that the pasta should be cooked until it is just tender, but still has a slight bite to it. Overcooked pasta will be mushy and unpleasant.
- Use a flavorful cheese. A good quality Parmesan or Pecorino cheese will add a lot of flavor to the dish. If you don't have either of these cheeses on hand, you can use a sharp cheddar cheese instead.
- Serve immediately. Fettuccine with country ham and vegetables is best served immediately after it is cooked. This will ensure that the pasta is hot and the vegetables are still crisp.
Conclusion:
Fettuccine with country ham and vegetables is a delicious and easy-to-make dish that is perfect for a weeknight dinner. It is also a great way to use up leftover vegetables. With a few simple ingredients and a little bit of time, you can create a meal that your family and friends will love.
